gatecon 2004

Ha - The "Bribe an Aardvark" Foundation???
"Money For the Mistress"?
"Gold for Gitwyia"?
"Send In The Clowns"? :p

Not that I am stopping ya, you know ..... feel free ..... :D :D

:rolly2: How's about... "Get Gitwyia to Gatecon"? And btw Aardie, where are the applications to join Gitwyia? :rolly2:

1. Applications? Oh I dunno Philo. You might not be eccentric enough. :p Do you have an LJ? Because we have become an LJ community as of recent. Yahoo Groups screwed up on me.

2. Posters? Oh dear ........ :D

AH! my post is gone, and it was good...:( Ah well.
My best recreation of my lost post:

1. Yes, applications. Not eccentric enough? NOT ECCENTRIC ENOUGH?! ::gasp:: I'm offended. ::sniff sniff::
*goes and get the big honkin' dictionary*
ECCENTRIC: deviating from a usual or accepted pattern
:: picture insert: philo:: <~ Look! It's me! It's me! :p
Ergo, Pick "me me me me me me me me me...." ~ Urgo
*swipes an appy*
Name: philo"pickme"SCIFI aka "Ty"
Why: cuz I'm broke (tuition and living expenses made sure of that) and I'm eccentric and I'm dying to go to gatecon and...it's killing me :dead: .... :alienooh: No joke. I was on the train and overheard someone talking. The only reason I overheard was because I heard the word "Vancouver" and my ears perked up. :p Everytime I walk through the school bookstore I have to go to the travel section just to see if they got any new "Vancouver" books. If theres time I head over to the laptops for sale and plop myself online for Stargate related whatnots including Gatecon. I literally cried on Saturday having missed AT in WA...I had a little countdown on me watch...oh no..."excuse me" ::tear tear:: Anyway...

Sadly, no LJ. But since that seems to be the norm, chalk one point up for eccentricity! But in all seriousness, you've got an LJ? Link please. :rolly2:

2. *Hands out "vote for me cuz I'm broke and eccentric" flyers out*

I am fortunes fooooooool. ~ some quote, possiblly from Romeo and Juliet?

EDIT/PS: I forgot. I'll probably post this in other threads as well, but... did anyone make it to Bellvue to see AT and if so, is it true she said she was most likely going to Gatecon because it might be the last one? (Something along those lines were heard from a hyper fan. I'd just like to make sure she actually said it though.)

when they say optional filming location?

When they say optional filming location tour with the super pass, do they mean the set. If I have the super pass for the gatecon is there any way that I can visit the set (where their is the gate room and stuff)

locations

I believe 'optional filming location' refers to one of the city tours visiting different locations shoots than the other. *If* we get permission to do the set tour this year, it's usually set up as an auction - you have to bid for a space on the tour. THat info will come out closer to the con.

thank you!

thank you for the information. It's going to be my first conv and I will go to Vancouver for the first time. Since I will be comming by car and it will take me three days to go and come back, I don't want to miss anything. Do you know how much can be the bids?
And is the tour bus filmign location worth it. I mean if they are shooting in july is there any chance the tour will go on an actual set or is it only previous location that were used?

The locations are always ones used in previous episodes. The good folk at Stargate Productions are very particular about allowing people onto a live set. (distractions, time is money etc.)

I have only ever heard good things about the location tours, and definitely add to the "Stargate Experience"

That certainly doesn't sound like something that should be seen in public!

tickets question...again

Get your Gatecon ticket while stocks last! Tickets are still available for the 5th Anniversary Gatecon event, although we are much closer to selling out than we were this time last year, so please get your ticket/s now to avoid disappointment.

For some odd reason, this is still bugging me.
Just trying to make sure I've got this right...
clearing up my confusion...

"stocks last" and "selling out" brings me to a semi-conclusion that there are a limited amount of tickets, which I was reassured there arent. Is this just a marketing/advertising plan? Or does "stocks last" and "selling out" refer to the amount of people/room capacity allowed in a certain room or hall at the con. I'm not sure if I'm making my question clear or not, but this has been bugging me. Everytime I go to the official Gatecon homepage I read those words... :dead:

I was reading some fan's estimate of how many people could be at Gatecon (maybe from the RDA invitation thread). The estimate was from something like as low as 300 and as high as 800. If tickets are limited or there is a certain "number of people/room capacity" for the con hall, then how does all this work?

:( Please help; enlighten me.

I don't want to pay for a room

Hi everyone, I don't want to pay for a room so I think I'll go to the youth hostel in Vancouver. Where is everyone staying at for the con? Will I meet some fans in the hostel?

Philo,

Yes, there is a limited capacity to the main room, and also a limited capacity for the Cocktail Party. As the tickets are inclusive of the cocktail party (and it has the lower cpacity of the two), it must be capped at the maximum number of people allowed in the room by law.

I'm not sure of the exact number, but I do know that we are getting close.
