That could be because I VOTED for Daniel.

Daniel's one beautiful man, inside and out. On the outside of course is--great body, lovely smile, BIG blue, blue eyes. Long legs, graceful hands....::sigh::

Nothing wrong with Jack at all--but Daniel's very nearly otherwordly with his good looks.

Exactly and Daniel is even more beautiful on the inside than he is on the outside. Let's not forget Jack wouldn't even be here today if it wasn't for Daniel--he helped stop Jack from in effect committing suicide in Stargate the Movie--he got through to him when no one else could, including his poor wife.

Daniel died saving the lives of thousands of people on a planet that wasn't his own--he's always tried to fight the good fight in his own way.

He forgave the man who was from a certain POV partly responsible for his wife's goulding and death--there are not many people who, even if they understood the extenuating circumstances, could have even stand to be in the same room with Teal'c after that simply because of the pain of the memory. But Daniel actually worked day after day on the same team with him as a team mate. By the 13th episode of the First Season(Fire and Water) we find out that Daniel has actually shown Teal'c how to play an ancient Egyptian game--this means he's spending time with him outside of just what he "has" to do for work. That says as much about the extraordinary nature of Daniel's character as anything--yet it's done in a nice and subtle way, not hitting you over the head with it.

Put it this way---Try to imagine Jack in the same situation, Teal'c had chosen Sara or Charlie to be goul'ded--do you really think he'd have been nearly as accepting or forgiving of him as Daniel was, though it wasn't easy for Daniel of course? He could barely even forgive the guy who "left him behind" enemy lines(A Matter of Time), despite the apparently difficult circumstances of that decision.

well see, I like Jack because I can sympathize with him more than I can Daniel. Daniel might be the more forgiving of such, but Jack knows the quality of a good joke. Even in the worst situations, he's there cracking jokes, and being the clown while still leading. Jack is much more complex than most people give him credit for; he's the kind of guy that gets by with his attitude cause he's smart and people like him.

Its that kind of aura that some people have that just exudes confidence and a fun personality.

And of course, Jack is the master of sarcasm, something that often brings a grin to many otherwise serious faces. And laughing is good for the soul.

In the same vein as Daniel blaming Teal'c for his wife's death, Jack could blame guns for his son's death. And if he did that, then why would he ever pick up a gun again; each time he does he must be reminded of Charlie. Jack is also the leader; he is responsible for ANYTHING that might happen to his teammates. Having already lost Charlie, and bearing the burden of a good leader, I believe that Jack goes through the similar problems as you believe Danny does.

I wasn't putting Jack down, just pointing out the strengths I believe make as Daniel as beautiful on the inside as the outside, a someone implied I was choosing purely from shallow motives.

I do however believe it is totally different about the "guns" and the person thing. The gun is one of the soldiers most important pieces of equipment, they come to know them intimately--but they know more than anyone that it is innanimate. It doesn't make any choices on it's own, it can't literally think. Without someone making the trigger go off it can't do anything, one way or another, except sit there unfired.

A person on the other hand, in the end they have a mind, they make choices. They may be good choices, bad choices, informed choices or uninformed choices but they are thinking, learning beings and they do make those choices.

So there is a big difference between Teal'c, a being with a mind who is obviously intelligent and capable of reasoning and an inanimate gun. So I don't believe the comparison is an equivalent one.
