The Mini Series

Galactica: 1980

Battlestar Galactica finally reaches Earth. They make contact with important scientists of the day, very like 'The Day the Earth Stood Still', even writing formulae on a black board. An annoying female reporter tags along while the Vipers land in the desert and are thought to be UFO's. They then get involved in a weird time travel, changing-history plot involving Nazis and future technology.

You can see how derivative it sounds; even the die-hard original series fans pretend that it didn't happen. However, I think that it does have a few redeeming features.

Over all I enjoyed the mini series.

The dialoged and the acting was pretty good.
I like how they described the technology / history of technology.
I am not a super serious technology fan, but I like that the world
makes scene.

The one thing I really didn't care for was the over emphasis
(particularly in the TV commercials) on Miss Blond and robotic.
I hope they tone that aspect of the show down a bit.
Yeah, she is hot, but I would rather see a good story
than a blatant attempt to attract a certain demographic.

I did see a few episodes of the original series (Sci-Fi Channel)
and I read the book version of the original pilot
around when Pulp Fiction became available for rent.

And I guess I might have seen the show when it originally aired,
but odds are I don't remember it from back then. Though, I am
surprised that as a kid I named one of my Lego character villains
B.B. Starbuck. Maybe that was a coincidences after all my
character was a villain, but who knows after all B.B. was the
leader of my bad guys not just a trooper.

But 'Starbuck' comes from a character in 'Moby Dick', so maybe you had just read that book.

Just rewatched part one again and it seems six is already starting to feel guilty about what is going to happen. not sure how i did not pick up on that before.
also it would seem that perhaps they need to figure out how to generate the radiation that fried the cylon but apparently does not effect humans.

Peace
