So who's excited for the new trilogy DVD release?

It's probably also worth noting that history will judge Star Wars by the originals and not by the touched up versions.

When creating a masterpiece, it's as important to know where to stop as where to start.

I have to say im looking forward to it even though I do have the original videos you just have to have them on dvd and isnt there going to be at least 600 minutes of footage etc maybe im just nosey but ive got to see what they have added to what has to be one of the greatest series of films.

All good sagas have hiccups so its understandable Star Wars had more than its fair share

Actually, I'm interested in finding a copy of the originally trilogy on VHS. Ebay hasn't been much help. Anyone know where I could find it?

On the sole availability of the special edition, I think that this says it all.

If you thought Lucas could not mess it up more...

...then you need to see the biggest change in the new DVD trilogy release. Both my roommates bought a copy, and, at the end of the Return of the Jedi where Skywalker watches the three ghost figures made up by his father, Yoda, and Obi-Wan, Lucas has chosen to replace the original version of Anakin with images of Hayden Christensen, who played the younger version of Anakin in the prequel trilogy.

Yep - the sense of which is...??

And in the original video "special releases" ROTJ loses the Ewok song, and suddenly there are otherwise pointless and unexplained flashes across various scenes, apparently across the empire, of people cheering the death of the Emperor. That was lame, too.

I never saw the originals when I was young although I picked them up in later life; so although I think they're brilliant films I don't have that really nostalgic bond (or wehatever it is everyone else has) with the films and even I thought that idea was really really wrong

Re: If you thought Lucas could not mess it up more...

I see they changed the Emporer in Empire Strikes back - and the scene is slightly different...

If anyone is interested, I've got two versions of the Holy Trinity on VHS (original and 1996 redo)... :D

Re: If you thought Lucas could not mess it up more...

I dread to think of how badly tampered with any future "special release" is.

George Lucas, we made you - at least give us the courtesy of giving us the original classic films that changed the world.

Re: If you thought Lucas could not mess it up more...

It's his work. He has creative rights to it, and he will do as he pleases.

Get used to it.
