The Doctor (Christopher Eccleston)

I think so. RTD liked McGann and the movie but not enough to put him in his show.

Yep, and now poor McGann is stuck in a crap Australian series with Daniel McPherson from Neighbours/The Bill.

*sigh* what did he do to deserve that.

BTW, does anyone know if McGann's Dr is available on DVD? Can't find it anywhere...

*looks high and low*

I know for a fact it is not available commercially in America, where I live. I dont know about anywhere else. I think it was released originally as VHs and DVD in England but was discontinued? Did hear a rumor the BBC settled the legalities of releasing it world-wide as there is interest in what happened before Chris took the job, as the fans assume it was McGann's Doctor who fought in the Time War. So maybe it will be released before too long.

Yes, that is hilarious. And a little sad. The fact that he gets no credit in the ads is sad too.

I used my super ex-librarian skills (okay, so I googled it) and it is available from Amazon UK. :) If your DVD player is multi-region... (if not, there are ways to make it so...)

Loner, I humbly prostrate myself before your superior librarian-ship.

Is that what you came to this planet in? THe Librarian-ship? *giggles to self at laaaaame joke*

*toddles off to Amazon UK*

So any more fans loyal to the Eccleston incarnation? I have recently been watching his adventures and am persauded more in his favor than that of his sucessor...

I have been watching repeats of the Eccleston series on pay tv and I have to say that I only just prefer him to Tennant. I really enjoyed the writing on that series too. I think Eccleston gave a slightly more vulnerable performance than Tennant.

I also think Piper and Eccleston had better chemistry than Piper and Tennant.

That said, they're very different Doctors and they've both done great jobs.

All the Doctors have been different from the ones before, more or less. I am not saying anything bad of Tennant by my earlier comment. I am simply stating what my preference is at the moment.

Is there no one else here willing to actually be critical of any of the Doctors or is everyone just like sheep, and are only here to say what great jobs they all have done? Lets try something more original shall we?

Phew, is it a bit lonely up in that ivory tower? :)
Eccleston and Tennant are wonderful actors, they were great pre-Who and will be great post-Who. I personally can't comment on other Docs cos I haven't really seen any.

You should check out the 'Worst Doctor' thread if you haven't already

P.S. Critical thought and analysis are more original than plain old criticism

Ah ladygiggs, as always you are the voice of reason (if not sanity... :D )

If you made me choose between Eccleston and Tennant I would choose Eccleston based on performance every time.
I like Tennant. I have grown attached to him. He's cute an' all, but...Eccleston was just that little bit more convincing.

As for the earlier doctors I think it was long enough ago that my memory can't actually be trusted... as I discovered when I started the "Worst Doctor" thread.

Hahaha good man! Yes, I was only testing to see how resilient others were on here when it comes to their favorite Doctors. No offense was meant.

LMAO! Now that that is settled.... do u think David will last beyond the 2 series he has already done..or doing, depending on how far they are into Series 3?

Very true. In fact the BBC have not yet even confirmed there will be anything beyond the series currently filming. Reports say he knows when he will go but wont tell us. Probably to avoid a widespread panic.

Yes I'm sure they don't want to be inundated with demanding mail.
I'm sure some people would hate me for this, but it's just a TV show. Eventually it will end. Or get really bad. Or both but in reverse order.

And then something else will come along.
