8.01 & 8.02: New Order (Parts I & II)

I'm back, baby. New episodes, more forum traffic so I return.

Not the best season premiere. I was sort of dissapointed. O'Neill of course didn't get enough screen time, Teal'c doesn't look right with the hair and some of the FX didn't look all too good. Of course, the new Weir isn't as bad as I was expecting. The episode just didn't seem to have enough of a Stargate feel, I think. Not bad, though. Just not as good as other premieres like COTG and Redemption. Lockdown looks promising, though. As does Atlantis: Rising.

O'Neill dont want more screen time. He said he wants to be with his family.

Oh, O'Neill wants more screen time...RDA doesn't, though. But screw him.

OMG you cant be talking about one without talking about the other. Whats up with you? You dont think wanting to be with his family is good?

I enjoyed the Premier. We got a screening of it at the Burbank Convention which was really nice.

My hubby seemed to think the part with Sam and Teal'c didn't seem like her. What do you guys think of that? I thought it was good. I loved his one word answers.

Trust me Chris Judge looks very sexy with hair. :)

I watched it again after I got home from Burbank. Caught a few little things the second time that I missed the first time around.

About RDA I think it is good for him to want to spend time with his daughter!!

Re: Time device?

I fully enjoyed this episode. :)
It was an exciting quality episode.

One minor nitpick.

Now I think the writers and directors did the right thing,
but there were a lot of things that were very conveniently
timed.

I'm sure "continent timing" is used in a whole lot of fiction
in general, but it was glaringly obvious in this Stargate
episode, especially the second time around.

I thought that scene was awkward, but that actually fits the
characters. If it wasn't awkward they would have been out of
character. That's what Sam is like when she gets stressed and
worried, but has free time.

Plus why didn’t thor make more of the weapons for Jackson and Telc(SP?)? If he was able to make one you would think he would be able to make two more for them to go on the planet with.
. .

Thor was a little busy working on the giant planet size model.
That's probably why.

Edit: Mini-Rand deleted. Sorry mods.

OT: Re: Downloading

The Moderators are mostly away at Gatecon at present. I really don't want to have to read this thread because I would rather avoid these spoilers, but I've already read reviews of it now anyway.

I'm sorry if anyone thinks that a Moderator has acted heavy handedly, but ASciFi does not and cannot condone or encourage illegal downloading of episodes, but I think everyone is aware that it does happen, and it will continue to happen anyway whatever we do.

Just because people disregard copyright infringements and intellectual property issues, (or even that some cancelled shows are never likely to be broadcast in some parts of the world) doesn't make it right.

But if I am to delete that post then I now need to edit your quotes too. If anyone was to actually reply then I would have to do something. If you see a post that needs reporting to a moderator, continue to do so using the link below.

Actually posting the URL of a download website is self-defeating anyway because as soon as someone does that it will be taken down fairly soon afterwards by the powers that be, starting off with a strong letter from the studio's lawyers.

Padders has long-term ideas for this site that are better served if we don't antagonise the studios. Although in the past they have been fairly lax about enforcing the non-commercial use of their materials they have recently begun to get much tougher.

No he wasnt they all was still on the ship. I mean he made one is seconds so it would take that long to make more. Plz know it before saying it!

I do know it.
They didn't have seconds to spare and the team was going against a small force with weapons that have proven successful
against non-human replicators plus one weapon that is will take
care of the one human replicator.

I don't see why you are angry?
I did put thought into it.
Do you really need 40 pharagraphs?

The episode was great, althought after not seeing Stargate almost for the entire middle Season 7, everything Stargate would do for me right now. I have to agree that is strange to see Teal'c with hair. It looks like is strange for O'Neill too. :D

I really enjoyed all the thing with the Replicators and the asguard. Also the conflict between the Goauld's because Ba'al is taking the control Anubis left. It sure is going to be interesting.

It was a great episode.

Krystal :p

Yeah, I liked O'Neill's insistance on the hair. He was like "End of the world, Replicator threat, blah, blah blah....I NEED to know what's up with the hair FIRST!"

What IS up with the hair? In season 2 Teal'c almost shaved O'Neill's head becuase he liked the style so much...it worked for him. I loved bald Teal'c.

Just watched this ep. I thought it was okay. Dr Weir didn't annoy me, which was a pleasant surprise.

I agree with JacksLover (or at least your husband :D) the part with sam was weird, i don't think she acts that much like a little girl when she gets stressed, at least i can't recall her doing it in the past. Teal'c was cute though. Serves her right for asking questions she can guess the answers too :D

Daniel and the Yu line was just funny. As was Teal'c to Thor "you timing is impeccable", we're all thinking it, why not say so :D

I thought Weir was surprisingly good in her negotiations with the System Lords (with Daniel's help). I'm not sure if Hammond could have done that.

So, Carter dies when the Replication ship is destroyed and Earth is about to be attacked by a System Lord fleet to test the out-of-action Ancient's weapon.

The problem with a series running this long is that I can't believe they will kill Carter off, and I'm sure they aren't going to destroy the Earth, so my excitement factor for next week is absolutely nil.

I still think this is an excellent series, but I miss the times when it was just our present day technology against the Goa'uld and all we had was a Stargate. Now we have Hyperdrives, Ancient Weapons, Time Dilation Devices and Suspended Animation Machines. It's almost like science fiction. ;)

I agree making it look like sam is dead you know won't happen but is inevetable that they will pick up new technology along the way.
But it was so good to have stargate back, i've missed it.

I think I agree that the ships computer was tied up with making a planet-sized Replicator-destructor and so it couldn't be used to make more hand-helds. Also Jack couldn't remember making it anyway. Thor said that the Asgard had already tried something similar before. That's why he immediately understood how it worked and was able to produce a larger version.

I liked the completion of the story with one exception:

The final sequence and the appearance of Sam's evil twin.

Don't they know that that is one of the top scifi clichés (along with alien Nazi soldiers, falling in love with a robot, and a man getting pregnant?)

Good second ep. but do agree that to have a sam evil twin yawn yawn been done before

I don't know, okay yes it's been done before, but after the way Fifth was obsessing about her, it would be weird if it just ended with him letting her go. (And speaking of cliché - how about that appealing to his humanity thing she did - can anyone believe that works? :D)

Oh and i loved the cool new weapon and Jack acting through the computer and Daniel being "beamed up" by Thor just when the Goa'ulds didn't believe them about the Asguard coming to the recsue.

And i think Teal'c's new look is growing on me :D

I just saw part two on Sky Mix. Twas really cool. I liked the cliffhanger ending bit:

Evil Samantha Carter!! :alienooh:
