Harry Potter & the Half Blood Prince

According to Darkhorizons, that's the official title of the sixth Harry Potter book ...

So, who do you think this Prince will be ?

When I first heard this I thought it was kind of a weird title, but it's growing on me. :p

JK has said that the prince isn't Harry or Voldemort, and I think it would be too obvious to be someone like Draco. I reckon it'll either be a new student at Hogwarts, or somebody in the past who just gets referred to.

So, any speculations on plot, considering the title?

The title is confirmed...

Potter VI Title Revealed

The title of the upcoming sixth Harry Potter book will be Harry Potter and the Half Blood Prince, author J.K. Rowling's official Web site revealed. Fans had to solve a series of puzzles to open a door on the site, revealing the title.

Rowling also posted a note saying that a rumored title, Harry Potter and the Pillar of Storge, was a hoax. "I was delighted to see that a hard core of super-bright fans knew that the real title was once, in the long distant past, a possibility for Chamber of Secrets, and from that deduced that it was genuine," she wrote.

Rowling added, "Certain crucial pieces of information in book six were originally planned for Chamber of Secrets, but very early on (first draft of Chamber) I realized that this information's proper home was book six. I have said before now that Chamber holds some very important clues to the ultimate end of the series. Not as many as six, obviously, but there is a link." Rowling said that the "half blood prince" of the title is neither Harry nor Voldemort.

No publication date has been set for the much-anticipated sixth book, which Rowling continues to write.

From the clues above I would hazard a guess that the 'Half-Blood Prince' IS in fact Harry. Didn't the 'Chamber of Secrets' suggest that Harry was a decendent of Godric Gryffindor because he could use his sword?

This essay has even more clues that he is the heir of Gryffindor.

I don't think it is Harry. He could take the sword from the sorting hat because, as Dumbeldore said, he was meant to be in Gryffindor, not necessarily a heir. It fits in with Harry not being sure if he was meant to be gryffindor or slytherin. It just shows that he is brave and looks after his friends, which is what the hat was after.
Plus, I prefer to think of Harry as just a normal kid (albeit magical) that a lot of bad stuff has happened too and not born special. Not that being royalty means he's special (or even half decent). Just look at the English royal family (myself being an australian republican).

I, for one, don't like the title. I just doesn't seem right. I think it's the term 'half blood' that gets me. But it seems to fit in with the simple and straight forward titles the rest of the books have been given.

I know that JK has dropped false hints in the past, but I don't think that she would out-right LIE about anything. If she says it's not Harry, it's not Harry. Maybe it refers to Godric Gryffindor - has it ever been mentioned whether he was pure blood?

I didn't actually read that properly before I posted the article. You are right, if she says it's not Harry or Voldemort, then it's not Harry or Voldemort.

The 'Half-Blood' thing might refer to a Mudblood like Hermione, someone who has a Muggle parent.

Hermione has both muggle parents. I think half-blood means someone with one muggle parent and one witch/wizard parent, like Harry and Voldemort. ;)

Or maybe it's about Hagrid ...
He's half giant, half men. Maybe he becomes the new 'Prince' of the Giants. That would be fun. :rolly2:

Good point Giorgio, who says that the half-blood has to be human? Never thought about that. :)

well we do know one thing, Its not harry or Voldermort that is the Half Blood Prince.

as for the next Minister of magic, im thinking Arthur Weasley:D:rolly2:

If it's not Voldemort it could be Tom Riddle. HBP was considered for the title of Chamber of Secrets and Tom was the major character in that. Strictly speaking when Tom was Tom he wasn't Voldemort. If you follow me.

i think i do, but im not sure she would do that for a story line, might be to confusing for everyone else:rolly2:

Well, so much for the Tom Riddle theory. In a FAQ session JKR was asked if Tom Riddle was the HBP and she said:

"Well, as Tom Riddle is the same person as Voldemort and Voldemort is NOT the HBP... do I really need to answer this?"

Seems you're right tim!

Its good to be Tim:p

so any more ideas on who it could be? me im stumped:rolly2:

I reckon it's gonna be a new character, cos nobody else really seems to fit.

do you reckon it could be someone new? I'm not sure, but am having a Harry Potter deprivation situation......

Yeah, I still think it's gonna be either a new person at Hogwarts, or some historical person they hear about.

And I've gotten totally addicted to HP fanfic at the minute, so I think I'll cope for a while. :D

lol smart, me im just gonna re read the books again soon, but yeah im sticking with a new person:):rolly2:
