Laurel Hamilton...

I thought that the book was much slimmer than some of the earlier offerings. The book seemed to lack some "oomph" in the story line.

When I first started reading Hamilton's novels, I enjoyed them immensely (perhaps that should be "perversely"?). When the sexual content in the newer books began to outweigh the plot and character development, I kept reading her work, but somewhat reluctantly.

I agree with posters' comments that the Gentry books are more focused on sex-for-the-sake-of-sex than the Blake books. But I haven't read the latest Gentry novel, A Stroke of Midnight, so perhaps things have changed.

Micah, the latest in the Blake series, is a real snore. As Bob Cold says, the sexual content has been toned down, but that hasn't improved the plot or characterization. I agree that the book lacks "oomph."

Here is the Jean-Claude cover, it is subject to change before it hit the shelves, enjoy :)

I just finished 'Giulty Pleasures. I really like Hamilton's style. She actually inspired me to strt wriitng in that genre. I've written scifi for years, but thought it was time to stretch my literary wings.

Err hello all

I havnt read these books but my wife (sitting behind me here) has and she has just latest one Dance Mcabre.

Well lets just say I'm glad were all open minded here the tally just keeps going up! I wont say who (or what!!!!!) she boffing now but her regular partners are up to about 5. Then of course were not counting Richard who is on and off (if you will pardon the imagery!!)

I am told it's rather graphic and only recommended for mature readers....well thats me out! But she likes them.

Give me Graham masterton any day.

I've read up to book eight in the series. My favorites are the first few because they are more about solving a mystery, and there isn't all the weird relationship drama that comes with the later books.

The mystery and the cases were what really did it for me. I didn't care about the sex and I didn't like how it (the sexual parts) all sounded the same, and was used more than once in one book. So when she stopped writing about the cases, I stopped reading. Unfortunately I'm going to have to read this one since she brought back Edward, and he was the most interesting character in the entire series.

I love the Anita Blake series, I have read all the books but have to say that the first books are my favorites. I have to agree with the sexual thing, my least favorite thing in the series is the "ardeur". I think is Anita can control it we can return to the action, werewolves and vampire politics that make me love the series. I have high expectations for the next book Skin Trade, because we have Edward and he always bring a lot of action with him. And so far sounds like it going to have a lot of action. I really enjoy her writing and think she's very talented.

I got to book 10 of the Anita Blake series and after several attempts to read it had to give up. The series took a different direction and it wasn't to my liking.
