Cancelled - SciFi Channel announcement

I love Stargate (with its realistic military and great mythology references), but I love Stargate with O'Neill! After he left and half of Farscape invaded (plus we moved from Goaulds to the pointless Auri) I really haven't been as enthusiastic. Plus Sheppard and Mitchell are the same character! I probably would've ended it at the end of Season 8.

A colleague had the following thought today:

Given the number of parallel universes, not least that SG-1 have been to, surely in one of them the series "Stargate SG-1" has continued past the end of the current season. We just have to persuade them to bring the DVDs back to this universe with them...

Well, now we know that they'll be doing 2 direct-to-DVD SG-1 movies. It's better than nothing yet not enough. There's still hope that it gets picked up by someone else for a season 11 *crosses all fingers and toes*

One movie will be to end the Ori storyline and the other will involve time travel. Also, for a while now, TPTB had been meaning to make a movie that would lead to a third series so we can hope for that still as well :)

Personally, I was starting to enjoy Mitchell and Vala is one of my all-time favorite TV characters.

Ah well, maybe the third TV series will have the same actors ;) (or would that be cheating? heheheh)

I no longer have Sci-Fi Channel (The UK and Ireland version didn't carry big name shows like Stargate and (bleh) star trek) but I have to say it seemed to be more a grave yard for short lived shows which made it very frustrating to watch and I'm not sure I'd bother getting it again.

I'd imagine that the stargate worlds MMORPG will become the mainstay of the franchise.

I can't believe this. I love SG-1, but Atlantis is a very poor substitute. Very poor.
I pray there is a movie. I wondered if that bit at the end of the 200th episode meant there would be a real movie. Fingers crossed.

Atlantis is OK but Stargate is/was the be all for me. Can't believe that they've cancelled it.

annette :)

I am a fan of Stargate and have been watching it on Sky One since the beginning of the series. I am glad to see it go as i am really annoyed with them saying it is cancelled then decide to do another series. It's about time they make up their minds whether or not it is to stay.

As much as I have loved the series, I do feel there is value in planning the end and not to let something drag on. And Unfortuneately SG1 sorta lingered longer than it should have. However if the fans get their way and the show is resigned I would be most happy to watch it again.
Perhaps instead of bigger badder bad guys they can look to setting up a new galactic power structure? Alliance? Government?

I agree barrier, i think as a fan myself that they should do something great with it if they are to keep it going. I mean they are with one new religion now but bringing in old enemies too, which is great but is very boring too.

I'd love to see a whole new them. And with Jack O'Neill gone now and only making a few appearances every now and then is so boring.

Stargate has to be my favortie TV show now what am i gonna watch? i guess ill watch reruns... anyway ummm Atlantis i didnt really like it was OK but REALLY not my favorite. and Jack O'Neill made the show it started going downhill when he left in my opinion

And now that the series has finished, that's it. It'll be nothing but reruns on tv from now on.

Kind of a shame, that.

Don't know about that. I have all the episodes so far, up to Season 9 on DVD and I'll still happily watch the re-runs. I must be a sad, sad person LOL

No, not really.:) I'd watch the re-runs, too. Shame there won't be any new ones, though.
