I might be misremembering, but I think there is a mention of teeth-cleaning in a Sansa chapter. (And if you think that's obscure you should've been at the ASOIAF Trivia Contest in LA )

As for Maggy the Frog, I think we've seen all we're likely to of her. But there's no specific reference to her being dead - though I think all references to her are in the past tense...

Oh, and I assumed (foolish of me, I know) she was pretty old when Cersei encountered her...still, she could be a prematurely aged 45 year old. Certainly most common people would look pretty haggard at that age, I imagine. It is a world without dentists, cosmetic surgery, anti ageing moisturisers and antibiotics. Which brings me to something I've always wondered - there's never any mention of characters brushing their teeth - maybe this is stupid, but shouldn't they all have rather gross mouths by now? Or is the lack of refined sugar in their diet mean they're generally ok?

As Raven says, there is a sansa teeth cleaning chapter in AGOT. I'm surprised you don't remember it to be honest, as, for me, it was THE pivotal chapter of the novel. It prepares the reader for the tywin on the bog section of ASOS.


Also, apparently people in the middle ages etc. did, on the whole, have pretty good dental hygiene. As you said, seeing as most people would have been unable to afford/acquire sugar their teeth remained in very good condition.

Where in the book did you read Jeyne had any kind of powers? I dont remember this at all.
