Trudi Canavan - What do you think of her books?

I love The Black Magician series. I just happened apon them in a bookshop, thought they looked good and brought them!:)

I thought that the Age of Five series would have five books, for some reason. :p

I've read the first two, and I really enjoyed them. And I've seen Voice of the Gods around, but haven't bought it.

I've read the Dark Magician trilogy and have just finished reading the Age of the Five trilogy.

I read her Dark Magician books about a year and a half ago and found them to be quite enjoyable. They were easy reading and were quite enjoyable. I also found the characters were pretty well fleshed out and likeable. Also the plot was quite simple but it wasn't predictable and threw up surprises every now and again.

I finished the last book in the Age of Five trilogy a few days ago and wasn't quite as impressed with it as her previous Trilogy. The revelation at the end of the trilogy I had already guessed at at the end of the second book, so I was left quite disappointed with such a predictable ending.
The people and the history in the Age of Five were interesting but by the second book I had developed a kind of "I don't really care about you." attitude towards them.

I've been buying her books so far but I think any future pulications of hers will be relegated to being borrowed from the library.

I've read The Black Magician Trilogy and really enjoyed it. It was an easy read but was plotted well enough and had decent character development.
