Asha makes me want to rip my eyeballs out.

There! See? I'm not crazy. Thank you!

Asha did have a good speech at the Kingsmoot, but that's like offering salad to a meat and taters man. It makes sense, it's the right thing to do, but it just doesn't compute. They want instant gratification in the form of sex and shiny things.

ARRRGGHHHHH!!!!!!!! Blasphemy!!!!!!! Take it back you heretic!!!!

Asha, where are you my sweet fair maiden??? Personally, I like a Uma Thurman in Kill Bill, kick your butt, sort of girl. Give me her over Margeary or Cersei or Sansa or any of those "soft" girls anyday...

She's certainly not soft.

But she's so pro Asha, that it's blinded her to her own circumstance, surroundings and culture.

I'm with Funky C on this one... under the right circumstances, ie. on a barded warhorse with a lance... Loras wins. But straight up, gladatorial style in an arena with only armor, shields and hand weapons I think Victarion is victorious.

lol, very apt. But even if Asha's attempt to be as good a political player as the rest of them fails, atleast she gave it a good shot. I wouldn't respect her if she'd never even tried, and I think she has to be 'pro-asha' to get their respect - the ironmen want a leader who's completely self interested and has self confidence surrounding them like walls of iron. And hell, she can still try for Harlaw.
The problem with saying that 'so-and-so has so much against them, they shouldn't even try to buck the system' is that once one person has done it, its easier to do it again. So Bronn claws his way up to lordship from the gutter and Asha is clawing her way up out of the women-as-chattel position. I don't like her much, but you've gotta give her cred for getting as far as she has.

I cant believe people cose for Loras, the only way he might have a chence of winning is by hitting Victarion with a lance when he is not looking

"Hey, whats that over there? Euron hanging by his fingernails from a cliff and calling out for help with no witnesses on hand?"

*BASH*

Victarion for me is one of the final four, that being said..

I still think Ser Loras is unfairly bashed.

He took, unwittingly, Cersei's orders to take Storms End, leading the vanguard, and was not only able to do it, he's still alive.

I'd like to see Tarly do that.

He is the best of the current Kingsguard, and would have held his own with any of them. I'm sorry if he's too pretty for many of you, but Loras has earned the wallet that says "Bad Motherf*****r" on it.

I think Loras' loss to Brienne in the Bitterbridge melee reveals his shortcomings in battle... namely his lack of strength and experience when it is too close for any weapons. Given a horse and lance, Loras would make short work of almost everyone in this competition. But on foot... I think Victarion is just the guy to get past Loras' guard and turn a knigtly contest into a gutter brawl.

He went to Dragonstone didn't he, Mace went to Storm's End, And I am hoping that The information Sansa gor is the true one, that Cersei is being played and that both Storm's End and Dragonstone are still holding out.

Now Loras might become a real contender if he got on some years and more to the point experience, atm though this is not the case and he still is too much of a green boy

I still hold to my theory that Loras will emerge scarred, hideous and bitter and take his place as the next Hound!

impossible, the Hound was fueled by hatred for his brother and almost sheer indifference to everyone else.

No matter how scarred he will still have his family bonds.

Now i dont really like Stannis in his whole person, but there are things i do like about him, especially his situation. More to the point, it is all about possibilities, wich would become a great deal more limited if dragonstone would have actually fallen. No a tall standing Dragonstone (perhaps with a near death loras after having failed and been captured) has more widespread opportunities for the future.

This is also the reason why Stannis alone remains of the outside contenders.
An alive Robb or Balon limits the story whereas an an alive Stannis greatly widens it.

You may have noticed that i have a love/hate relationship with King Stannis. I hate the man, hate what he says , does/manners, the fact that he is bald :) (bald people's hatemailing coming my way), basically almost everything about him, but i love his actions, the story that comes with him. Discovering as the first cersei and jaime incest, his loyalty --> holding storm's End, taking Dragonstone, taking over a great part of his rebel brother army (by killing him through sorcerous ways), getting smashed at bitterbridge, raising davos to Hand, going to the Wall and smashing the Wildlings. the dude is a very active one indeed. I also like the fact that he is straightforward, not for that per se, but it provides a welcome break from the overactive plotters. It creates a balance.

Aw,c'mon, don't destroy my dream Kiwi. Maybe Loras will decide its better to side with Cersei than fight her after nearl losing his life, lose his family's affection after going to the 'dark side' and ride out to kill commoners and
burn houses with gleeful abandon? Who knows how being hideously burned and suffering awful pain will affect his mind? Maybe he'll become addicted to painkillers like dreamwine, start writing bad poetry and become the Byron of the age? Or ask Qyburn to heal his scars with black magic, thus being forced to make unholy sacrifices every night to a demon in the basement?
And am I trying to turn this thread into 'Funky's wild speculations?'
