Who Here remembers thunder cats? (i'll take a show of hands, just kidding)
that show was a great show With lionel, and the snarf. and every time something bad would happen lionel would take the dagger out of claw sheath and say something like "by the power of the" (if anyone remeber the bit after that i'd be extatic to know)"thunder cats Hoooooooooooooooooooo!!"
that was a cool show. any thoughts on it?

Does anybody remeber any shows they watched when they were little? That's just one of my favorites.

by the power of? you sure that isn't he man? by the power of greyskull! :p
i remember thundercats. and most 80s cartoons. im a big fan of that decade.
dungeons and dragons, mysterious cities of gold and dogtation were my favourites

Loved Thundercats! Watched He-Man too. Transformers, Voltron and all that other stuff too. There's actually a really old thread around here somewhere about this same topic. Way back in '03 or round about there.

Watched and loved thundercats, also remember Dungeons and dragons mysterious cities of gold and dogtanion. And now I have theme tunes running around my skull.

I remember all these cartoons with much fondness (and nostalgia).

As an aside (but still related to this topic) does anybody remember a full length feature sword and sorcery animation called Fire and Ice? It was made about 1983. I've never seen it myself but I stumbled across references to it on one of my usual forays for unusual movies on the net. Copies seem a bit thin in the ground but a lot of folk that have seen it rate it very highly.

I've managed to order a second-hand copy and I'm hopeful I'm not wasting my time or money. :)

Absolutely loved Thundercats and I do remember watching He-Man and Voltron.

I think the quote you want is either:

"Sword of Omens, give me sight beyond sight! " - Lion-O

or

"Eye of Thundara, give me sight beyond sight!" - Lionel

I have to admit a fondness for:

"Ancient spirits of evil. Transform this decayed form to Mumm-Ra, the ever living. " - Mumm-Ra

I very vaguely remember Thundercats. Voltron was tops, but my faves were Dinoriders and Robotech. Had so many of those toys. They just don't make cartoons like that any more. All this pocket monster and trading card crap....

Merchandising used to come after the show - figurines and what not - but now they seem to think of a product and then gear the show to sell as many as possible. I can't think of the name of it but there's that show around at the moment where the characters pretty much just play the card game. How freakin' exciting! Give me mutant turtles kicking the crap out of robot ninjas any day.

Well Transformers, Thunders, Centurions (remember them?), Mask and all the rest were really just 30 minute toy adverts but as least they try to string together some kind of story.

Dogtanian was probably my favourite if I had to pick one, though I did think the cowardly cavalier from D&D was the finest character ever created :)

I remember Strawberry Shortcake, My Little Ponies, Rainbow Brite, Care Bears,... oh I also remember Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles :)
the turtles were sweet you know how they came up with them? These 2 guys had failed at writing comics anbout 15 books in a row. so they were in this guys basement getting drunk. the next morning the guy notice that he had drawn a picture of a turtle using nunchucks on his arm. and thus the turtles were born.

was never in to heman though

eric the cavalr i think. you can get that on dvd now, along with ulysess 3.1. which i have. both :)

i'd like a mysterious city of gold on dvd too! that was great. :)

Ulysses 3.1. I loved that series! Another few I would like to see again are the Raccoons and Bravestar.

Thanks, Adasunshine, now I have Dogtanion going round in my head!! Loved all those old cartoons, esp. the 'Hero' turtles as they were called in the UK!!

Wow - Hearing all these 80's cartoons being mentioned brings back some memories! Thundercats, Dogtanion, Centurions (no one I know seems to remember this show, but it was really cool with seriously cool hardware!), Pole Position, Visionaries were some of my faves but in particular 'Transformers'.

Another show I really liked, but again no one I've spoken to knows about is 'Thunderbirds 2086'. It was an anime version of International rescue. (I was blown away by the computer graphics at the beginning!). Anyone remember this? Anyway, getting carried away so I'd better leave it there ;)
