Well, it usually starts with meeting a mysterious stranger, somebody's cousin from back east, good-looking but a bit of a trouble maker. Then the next thing you know, you're having some wine…

ah . . . I see. Yes the innocence of youth bamboozled from your grasp by a smooth, intriguing, bad boy? Usually older and more worldly wise? As you grow, you realise he was an oppurtunist creep and the hatred and persecution of all men begins thanks to the loose morals of one . . . .

That's the thing about picking an avatar. If you're not careful, you start to take on its personality.

Yes, I've become even more tree-like over these pasts months. I suddenly have the desire to become a may-pole...

First allow me to enlighten you to the rules of the GRRM forums

1. No making fun of Georgies weight. Sure he could put a piece of pizza down and get the book at sooner, but it wouldnt have the same impact

2. Boaz isnt allowed to call you an idiot for 18 posts. I think thats the number, but if he calls you an idiot on your 4th post it must be 4....and if he hasnt called you an idiot yet the number is higher...just wait for it.

3. No political crap. No matter how wrong you are keep it to yourself.

4. Dont poke the Tree (Re: The Smiling Weirwood) You wont like him when he's angry. And by poking I mean dont misspell anything.

5. Dolorous Edd is the funniest character ever. Any dissenting opinon will get you eaten by vegetarian pygmies...dont ask, it isnt pleasant.

6. Oh, and anything else I say later

You had me laughing a bit there (#1), and I almost woke up my husband.

Anyway, spelling provokes "the Tree"? What about omitting apostrophes? What about the different ways we sell things accross the continents?

Ok, maybe this question will spark a thread or something....

We keep hearing of Asshai by the Shadow. From my understanding, the Shadow is still a place, but why do people call that land the Shadow?? I know when it has been talked about that people that live in those lands are not trusted and I think even despised or feared.

Bran had a vision from that crow in AGoT and he saw Asshai and looked in the Shadow where "Dragons stirred awake with the morning sun" or something remotely close to that.

Question then: What is the Shadow? What is in the Shadow? And was Bran's vision the future or are there Dragons also living in the Shadow Lands????

Oh, real quick, GRRM mentioned in one of his interviews that he was asked who knew Jon's parentage and his response was .. "The Shadow knows"

the shadow is a psycho-dude from a b-film who has crappy 'super'powers. whenever he comes on scene, he flaps his cape whilst screeching i am the shadow in a wannabe spooky voice.

Originally, I though tthe Shadow was just the description of the lands past Asshai. I still think that from the references in the books, but I don't understand what GRRM meant by that comment about the Shadow knowing Jon's origins. He spoke as if it was a being. My guess is he is either screwing with us like this entire Aegon thing or perhaps it is another name term for the God of Ice etc ...

Could he be referring to Melissandre's shadow-thing she gives birth to, oh, and she happens to be at the Wall, oh, and in the preview chapter she doubts Stannis is Azor Ahai reborn and begins to suspect Jon having royal blood...
