Torchwood: 1.02: Day One

I enjoyed it, long may it continue as I suspect it will only get better, the Beeb are on a winner with this one, unlike Robin Hood which may sink quickly if it does not improve soon, even now it may be too late.

Isn't it larger than David Tennant's hand?
How did Capt Jack get hold of it?

But thanks for the explanation anyhow.
the hand has been preserved in lord alone knows what. i thought that it had simply gotten water logged, when i looked i could see skin bubbling off, rather like with drowning victems. how jack (note, captain jack is jack sparrow, this is just jack harkness, he gave himself the rank of captain) got hold of it i don't know but i'm sure the explanation will follow.

Just watched (bits of) the repeat: I liked the way the hand seemed to move and twitch on its own as if partially still alive... out of the "jar" I mean

If the hand can move on it's own, does that mean it is still connected in some wierd way to the Doctor? Food for thought.

Perhaps Jack is trying to find a way to repopulate the race of Timelords. Or at least have one on his side? I dont think the Doctor would be very happy with Jack if he knew about it. Maybe there will be an episode about the Hand coming up? David Tennant may make an appearance :D

Perhaps the ambient regenerative powers that the hand may still contain combined with the fact that he was brought back to life using some of the force from the TARDIS is what is keeping him immortal?

It's interesting to read the comments about the hand when you know what happens. I particularly like Dave's comment about the hand growing a new Doctor. :p

And to kick off, with my [patent pending] spoiler alert (take that, Py!):

*SPOILERS FROM SERIES 1 & 2*

As for thoughts after my re-watch - Gwen really does seem newbish, especially if you compare her on her first day to the Gwen we're seeing in Series 2. It's also easy to understand Andy's comments from Adrift (2.11) more - he said that the Gwen of old cared about people, and wanted to help them. In this episode we did see that Gwen, who wanted to help Carys, even to the point of offering to be the host for the sex-crazed alien (ahem... what a way to go  ).

As for the episode - not bad. A strong follow-up to the first one.

You weren't the only one who was reminded of Ghostbusters, Harpo. That portable cell must have been inspired by the Ghostbusters capture device.

You re-watching the entire two series then, Lenny? Should be an interesting exercise - I imagine you'll pick up all sorts of stuff which only hindsight brings out.....:D

Indeed I am. Bank Holiday tomorrow, had nowt to do this evening, the last episode left me on tenterhooks, so why not? :p Not looking forward to the fourth episode of Series 1 though (cyberwoman one). Didn't really catch me at all.
