Who is Coldhands?

This has been debated quite a bit over the last few years. I am firmly entrenched in the camp that Coldhands is a Children of the Forest. I think the Children and the Others are distant cousins of the same ancient magic so a few of the same rules may apply to both. Coldhands is not Benjen. (Benjen is alive, will return, big reckoning.) Coldhands is not a wildling, not a zombie, not a shimmering killing ice demon other, so who's left? Children of the Forest.

My theory that CH is the human-ish priest of the Other, and Melisandre's opposite in all things, has been completely ignored. People seem to think I'm calling him an other, which I'm not.

I don't think your theory has been ignored, but I'm a little unsure what you're basing it on. I'm fairly open-minded about who Coldhands is, the bigger question is why is he helping the Nights Watch? What does he care/why does he care about the fate of Sam and how does he know about the construction of one of their (NW) oldest fortifications?
If he was Benjen Stark, that may answer some of those questions but I agree with however said (on another thread) that if it had been Benjen, surely Sam would have noticed some family resemblance to Jon in his features.

He cares about the Starks, not the night's watch. He is helping Bran, not the NW, because the Starks are of Winter. There is far too much emphasis but on the Starks being of Winter and the cold to be ignored. Maybe 'Winter is coming' is not a warning, but something far more positive to the early Starks than later interpretations.
Also, as noted in the Sam chapters of AFFC, the NW was almost always under the charge of a Stark or a Stark *******. There is a connection.
You do have a point though, I don't have much evidence. It's just a theory. Nevertheless, until someone proves otherwise it is a theory I am fond of.

Maybe CH is dead (as zombie of the Others) but he is under control of the Children of the forest? He is cold as dead men, but there is no blue shine in his eyes, he is controlling the birds (or the same person who is controlling him is controlling the birds). So... he is some guy from the Night Watch who died.

To continue from where we left of in the Tea Room, we don't know that for sure. (will not clarify... Mwahaha.).

Ups… sorry FW. But isn’t the Other god of the ‘others’.
did we stop here??

I am not trying to open the question about religion but I don’t believe in Gods so I think Others are the reason for believing there is a god called OTHER but he really doesn’t exist.
I know he (CH) can still be the priest of the OTHER but it is unlikely.
I don’t know how to say it but :does Danny believe in R’hlore(spelling??), no she has the dragons, Mellisandre believe in R’hlore and she wants dragon, your CH believe in OTHER he wants Others. Isn’t that different from the flow? (I am sorry if you don’t get my mumbo-jumbo)

I don't. I also don't understand how the reality or otherwise of Gods in this world means anything at all to Gods in ASOIAF.

Connection:
Every God exist for a reason. People explain unexplainable with Gods-GRRM can’t change basic human behavior for fun of it.

Coldhands could be Bloodraven, although I think that likelihood is now diminishing (it would be odd for all those people who haven't read The Sworn Sword). I'm in the camp that Coldhands is a minion of the Children of the Forest. He's not a member of the Night's Watch as he cannot pass through the gate under the Nightfort, which only Sworn Brothers can do. In fact, he can't pass the Wall at all due to the ancient spells woven into it, which would tend to excluse Benjen Stark unless some crazy magic stuff has been done to him.

Child of the Forest: "Excellent Benjen, you joining forces with us like this to fight evil."
Benjen: "Well, being in the Night's Watch was a bit lame, so I decided to join up with you guys, despite voluntarily joining the Watch, serving them for fifteen years, rising to First Ranger and generally being very reliable."
Child: "Nice. Right, your first mission is to wander around a bit in case you randomly encounter people getting beaten up by wights and you can help them out by using your new raven minions."
Benjen: "Okay, I'll go get my horse."
Child: "Sod that sunshine. You're with Team COTF here. You need no horses here. We have our own method of transportation."
Benjen: "Cool. What's that then?"
Child: "Elk."
Benjen: "Erm...okay."

Wert, methinks you've debunked this theory before.

I've seen it mentioned once or twice (or six hundred and fifty thousand times), yes.

R+L=J is still the king of ASoIaF theories though. The current thread on this topic on the Westeros forum currently runs to 35 pages and nearly 700 posts :(
