It seems to me that there are lots of animated comedy series on tv at the moment, but which is the best?
I think I like Futurama, rather than the Simpsons. No real reason, I suppose, than a space/future setting gives more chance for funny situations. I've also seen a couple of episodes of Drawn Together, the animated spoof on reality tv, and thought that wasn't too bad.
Anyone else got any favourites that I might have missed?

I love the Simpsons, and unlike some people I know, I think it gets better as the series go on, rather than getting worse.

I quite like Family Guy as well, that can be very funny sometimes, especially Stewie! I've also watched some episodes of American Dad, and although not as good as Family Guy, it still has its moments.

The older series of The Simpsons are a lot better than most of the new stuff, I think.

I love watching Futurama and Family Guy whenever I get the chance... and that's about it.

Yeah, as I said, it seems quite a few people feel that way. I think there's a few reasons why I prefer the newer ones:

1. I've watched the first few series so many freaking times.

2. I think the earlier series can be too sentimental...I prefer the outrageous stories and strange situations that seem to be so common in the later series.

That's why I'm not too keen on the newer series - the story starts 10 minutes in after a connection that should make anyone cringe.

At least with the film this year, they've got 2 hours or so to make everything pan smoothly into the next. :p

Lol, yes, I know that there are some very strange connections. Like when Marge starts fancying the man on the paper towel packet and this leads to Homer uncovering a dark secret from his past. All very strange! But that's what I likes, apparently!

Futurama over new simpsons for me, I definately prefered the older simpsons episodes, except that they've all been replayed so often that its hard to laugh when your always 3 lines ahead. Still I havent watched it all that regularly for years so every now and a again I'll catch a replay that has me giggling.

I used to think that Family Guy was better than the simpsons but its lost something for me in the last few seasons.

I havent seen all that much Monkey Dust and its a bit hit and miss but some of its very very funny.

I've watched Monkey Dust a few times...I thought it was all right, but not fantastic. It doesn't have the addiction factor of The Simpsons, which I will always watch if I see it on TV, even if I've seen that episode ten times before and know practically all the words.

For me it's older Simpsons or nothing. I have the first six series on DVD, and some of them just never stop being funny. I know the joke is coming, and it'll still put me on the floor. God, some lines come to me at work or the shops or where ever, and I can't help laughing out loud. I liked the sentimentality. I liked Homer when he was just sweetly naive, not homicidally moronic. Honestly, I'll watch a new episode and not crack a single smile, but rather spend much of it cringing in horror, amazed at whatever new low to which it has sunk. Of course it was inevitable, but still it saddens me. That's why I seldom watch any new ones. Someone let me know if they get any better....

Futurama is good without ever approaching the greatness of golden Simpsons. The Family Guy is not bad, but so hit and miss. American Dad I thought was more of the same, only less hit and more miss.

I'll admit my guilty pleasure is Disney cartoons on a Saturday morning, particularly Kim Possible and Dave the Barbarian, both of which are far better than they have any right to be.

Does anyone remember Megas XLR? "Megas XLR" (2004)

Ok, so it's not on tv at the moment (after 2005 got cancelled), but one of the funniest shows ever. I wonder why it was cancelled.

For tv now, have to vote for Family Guy. Old Simpsons is better, but FG has the laughs right now.

I've seen a couple of episodes of Megas XLR, and I thought it was funny (the eps I saw were spoofing a couple of anime shows.):)

Simpsons. No question. Never will be a better show.

The movie was friggin hilarious too.

Have to join the Simpsons bandwagon although I find I enjoy series 6-11 or so the best. The early ones were horribly drawn and glitchy which didn't bother me at the time but does now and some of the stories haven't stood up so well. The lastest series have seemed to me to have been flogging a dead horse bar the occassional good episode. Series 16 was probably the last one which I consistently found funny I think. I also thought the movie was poor.Bar that the animated comedies are pretty thin on the ground except for the ones already mentioned. I have to add in a blast from the past and give my approbation to Ren and Stimpy though. Surreal, delightful lunacy... :)

There used to be quite a few animated comedies on, although now they're a dying breed. Out of the two - Simpsons vs Futurama - I still like Futurama, although the Simpsons is a classic. I agree about some of the early episodes, but once it got started it was brilliant. I have to say, though, I haven't seen it recently, nor have I seen the film. Perhaps I should start up again.:)

For me its Futurama. I could watch it over and over, the characters are brilliant and funny.

I recall the first time I saw South Park, I thought what is this? The animation wasn't brilliant, it took me a few episodes to start to enjoy it, there are times when it still shocks me to, its not something I would suggest my mum watch!

The Simpsons Film is alright. Not great; I admit I expected better, it was really just like an extended episode and was all rather sentimental. There were some laugh out loud moments but these mostly came in the beginning third or so. Worth watching just so you can say you have, but to say it's been something that's been ten years or so in the planning, it didn't have the wow factor I was expecting.

South Park...I don't see enough of the episodes anymore but I have to say that I absolutely love the film.

Oh Hoppy
I saw the film and thought how many more times can they say THAT WORD. I probably shouldn't have been shocked, but I was!!!!!
