Best animated comedy?

Anyone else seen Harvey Birdman, Attorney at Law. I catch it every now and again when it's shown late on the weekends (along with Sealab 2021 and Space Ghost) and it can be very funny.

I'll join the old Simpsons group and Southpark... I remeber when the Simpsons first came on the air... each episode was like an event... it was pretty cool

Another vote for the Simpsons. :) Futurama comes a close second.

Cheers, DeepThought

Taylasia You havent seen "Władcy Móch" yet im telling you it beats Simpsons and Futurama in a long shot (its also the first Polish animated comedy) I mean really in which other series you find a Zombie child going to school (and not making anybody scared) all the characters asumed thats normal. Also in the series there is a Colonel (a skeleton with drinking problem) and many other NOT NORMAL CHARACTER

I used to watch this a while back, and it was pretty funny, from what I remember of it.:)

And Staszek, I'm afraid to say that no, I haven't seen the show you mention, but it certainly sounds interesting.

as far as animated movie is concerned my favourite is 'bolt'.

'Ed, Edd & Eddy'...I never really got into the whole 'mature' animation thing ('Family Guy', 'Simpsons', 'South Park' etc). I found the Edds to be the best characters comedy has to offer, three stooges to look at and laugh at their antics...the show never got old for me, no matter the season. I only wish they'd kept doing it.

I would have to agree earlier Simpsons were so much better than now. South Park is occasionally fantastic. Ren and Stimpy was like the band that started a thousand other bands, if you know what I mean. Monkey dust first series was good. INVADER ZIM! was great, and Sci-fi! I'm creating a puppet show/animation series named Cosmic Pup. So I would mention that.. If you count YouTube as TV?!?!

I'm not really a fan of any of the western animated comedies, to be honest. South Park has its moments, same with Family Guy and Simpsons, but if there is one animated comedy that actually made me laugh all the way through - other than Fairy Tail - it is a Japanese anime called: Kaichō wa Maid-sama!

It's a romantic comedy about the most popular girl in school, who is also the president of the school council, but has to work in a Maid Cafe to make ends meet at home. Finding the position embarrassing, she tries to hide it from her friends at school; rather unsuccessfully. Especially when the guy who every girl in school has been trying to confess their love to - except her - takes an interest in her. What makes it so refreshing is the fact that it is a reverse-harem (female lead) when all the other harem anime out there suffer from weak, annoying male leads. Misaki is definitely not weak.

If you're craving for more Maid-sama style comedy, then there is a current anime screening on Crunchyroll that would fit the bill: Tonari no Kaibutsu-kun (The Monster Sitting Next To Me/My Little Monster). The anime is a breath of fresh air, has serious relationships developing in it with emotional bonds and reversals of character personalities that make it unique from all the other comedy anime out there.

It starts with Shizuku taking class notes to Haru because he never, ever shows up for class - due to the flawed nature of his character (he is very innocent, almost child-like and has difficulty dealing with others; often overreacts or handles situations wrong).

When she gives him the notes, he immediately thinks that makes them friends and wants to spend more time with her, yet all she cares about are her studies and getting first in class on every test, earning her the nickname, Studybug. Only problem is now Haru is showing up to classes because of her influence on him and is beating her in the tests and getting perfect grades - which doesn't seem logically possible to her.

Their relationship forms through this and escalates to the point where they start to develop serious feelings for each other, and quick, but because of conflicts in their personalities it makes for some entertaining stuff-ups and difficulties on both their sides. Combine this with some deep backgrounds, well fleshed out support characters, hilarious antics, and you have a thoroughly entertaining comedy that will keep you smiling.

Of course, need I not mention Fairy Tail...? If you haven't watched Fairy Tail, then... what's wrong with you? :D Funniest anime comedy there is. And that isn't an exaggeration. It also has some amazing emotional scenes that will make even guys cry. Seriously, if you want to watch an animated comedy, go watch it. Now.
