Descriptive Phrases

A Trumpet? In a brass band?! Heavens above!!! BURN THE HEATHENS and so on and so forth.

More of a wind band than a brass band, to be accurate.We had clarinets, too!!
 
Ahem...*Points to the title of the thread* I don't see "Band discussion" labelled as the topic for this, gentlemen. :p

Then why call it a brass band?

I play in a wind band. And I'm glad to say there isn't a cornet in sight. :) Whenever a new fella pops up with a cornet, s/he is given one of the band Trumpets instead. :D Shame we don't get any new folks. :(

I think these people are, wait for it, waiiiit for it, I can feel it coming... oh yeah!!... "blowing more wind than a wind band!". Bu-dum... nah.

It's funny, but a lot of the descriptive phrases I've come across have been oxymorons. Going through an old book, I found, "Make haste slowly," and "Faith unfaithfully kept him falsely true." I like "bittersweet" as well.

I apologise for contributing to the band discussion, evil laugh. But I would like to state for the record *quotes* Ahem...*Points to the title of the thread* I don't see "Band discussion" labelled as the topic for this, gentlemen. :p *close quotes* I'm not a gentleman!
 
I have heard "a gaggle of geese" re-written into "a giggle of girls"
And someone once referred to a group of my associates and me as "a noise of boys"
