Martin Walker sent me the synopsis of Making Money. It really makes
me want to read it now. Unfortunately we will have to wait until it
is released in October.

"It's an offer you can't refuse. Who would not wish to be the man
in charge of Ankh-Morpork's Royal Mint and the bank next door?
It's a job for life. But, as former con-man Moist von Lipwig is
learning, the life is not necessarily for long. The Chief Cashier
is almost certainly a vampire. There's something nameless in the
cellar (and the cellar itself is pretty nameless), it turns out
that the Royal Mint runs at a loss. A 300-year-old wizard is
after his girlfriend, he's about to be exposed as a fraud, but the
Assassins Guild might get him first. In fact lot of people want
him dead. Oh. And every day he has to take the Chairman for
walkies. Everywhere he looks he's making enemies. What he should
be doing is ... Making Money!"
Sorry! my apologies for that.

"What kind of person would put a known criminal in charge of a major branch of government? Aside from, say, the average voter."
Here, our fabulous Vice President has been charged with corruption and fraud about 3 times (I've actually stopped paying attention) and rape. The political song he sings begins "Bring me my machine gun..." in Zulu or some other South African language. The really sad thing is that he's still got a lot of supporters. And our health Minister says that vegetables are the cure for AIDs. is that a criminal activity?; it's probably gonna kill people as she's not anding out ARVs

Anyway I cant wait for it... only coming out next month in civilised places, it'll probably be ages before we get it onto shelves here:( Going Postal was really great, but then again, which ons aren't

is she too busy blaming the homosexuals perhaps?

Thanks for the video link, Marky. Don't you just love the silly cheeky pTerry!:) Good news about The Colour of Magic and The Light Fantastic films.

Probably still can't get used to the lack of hair. Or maybe he has an abundance of thoughts trying to get out onto paper.
And in Pratchett's randomy style, allow me to present... abundance!

This taken from the Discworld Monthly list I subscribe to.
Of interest to fans in the States and Oz.

RHI Films have just put up a poster and brief synopsis of the The
Colour of Magic adaptation on their website:

It looks like The Mob and SkyOne's excellent adaptation of Hogfather
is finally coming to US television.

Hogfather will make its US premiere on ION Television at 7/6c on
Sunday November 25th.

I understand that ION might not be that well known a channel - I've
spoken to a couple of people that didn't realise they could already
receive it.

For more information about the adaptation visit
http://www.rhifilms.com/

The trailer for the US broadcast can be found at:

Borders have managed to secure an exclusive US DVD distribution of
Hogfather - you will be able to purchase Hogfather from Borders from
13th November 2007 - the DVD will later go on general US release
from March 2008.

See http://www.bordersstores.com/ for more information.

In related Hogfather news I've heard a rumour that Hogfather will be
released on DVD in Australia in early December. Having checked a
couple of on-line DVD suppliers based in Australia I have found that
they are listing it as available for pre-order.
:D

Never saw David Jason as Rincewind, somehow...always pictured him as a lot younger. But Christopher Lee as the voice of Death....oh yes.

It is a shame that David Jason is playing Rincewind IMO he is not tall or thin enough and someone a bit younger as Rincewind is round about 30yrs oldish.Still I won't let that spoil my enjoyment of the film, quite happy it is being made.

I would have thought it fair to criticise a casting choice, Marky: wouldn't you have done so if they'd announced that, say, Paris Hilton was to play the voice of Smaug in the new Hobbit film?

And I'm still waiting for a new JRRT Trivia question!:D
