Dawn Dragon - the whole Prologue

It looks like you're set to be one of these 'prolific' writers then, Mark? :D

I look forward to seeing how it's progressing - feel free to post a few more sample paragraphs on here, btw.... ;)

WS, I hope to be 'prolific' 'pandemic' 'poetic' 'polymorphic' and just about any other positive 'p'! (Especially prosperous!) My biggest aim though is not to be 'posthumous'!

Yeah, not many writers come back from that last one, although quite how you'll be pandemic without sneezing on your books before dispatch is beyond me... :)

Thanks, Charles. It's good to see that I'm building a group of people who are on the lookout for my work. I'm planning to write quite quickly from now onwards, as I've finally turned full time. It's a nice feeling to think that I will finally be able to let loose my creativity and call it work!

I'll do my best not to keep you waiting for the books too long. I look forward to reading some of your work too. You might want to post some in the aspiring writers section. It's a good place to get some constructive criticism. The people who frequent this site are good at offering helpful advice with writing.

Sorry for bringing this topic back up, finally got round to reading the prologue now that my mind and body has relaxed enough and I'm hooked as well, look forward to seeing the finished book. :)

Hey, you took the words right out of my mouth, except 2 months earlier than they came into my head!

Glad to see you're all hooked. I'll be pitching this properly to the publishers in May. Let's hope that they decide to run with it so that I have a good reason to write it (other than the fact that I want to know how it ends as well!). :)

so do i, so get writing quick

Ill just think for a while about how this new story might unfold ...

That sounds like a great book. Love the prologue!

will this be your first book after the imperial series mark? (or sooner?!?!)
or are you planning to write something else before publishing this.

This is planned to be my next book, though not necessarily with this title, or even this start. The concepts are what I hope to use.

*sigh* I am sooo jealous, and inspired, and excited. I hate feeling like this because I have very little time and money.

Another addition to my library, this series would be! Excited to bits *melts like jello*

I loved the prologue. It was fantastically written. However, and i don't say this in any way to take away from the creation, i am interested to know how it would differ from stories such as Eragon.. do you have anything up your sleeve to set it apart from such novels that are already published? I noticed that this thread dates back a while, so i don't know whether or not this concept was devised before or after Eragon's rise in popularity. From the more recent posts, it seems you are very much going ahead with it, which is awesome - but as i said, with the popularity of Eragon and it's following two books, how are you going to ensure your own work differs? Or am i just going to have to wait and see? :p

I'm not going to make a big secret of the concept, as it will become obvious from the cover art alone. My fantasy world will impinge on our world - and thus the dragon riders will mix with our society in secret ... during World War I. My background as a pilot makes me eminently qualified to write a flying story, so I'm going to spin a tale that one could describe as 'Biggles meets dragons'.
