Fahrenheit 451

Apparently the ignition point of some kinds of paper is 450 degrees... Celsius, not Fahrenheit. :p

It's scary how accurate some of Bradbury's predictions are. We aren't at the book-burning stage yet, at least not in Europe, but we might just be getting closer to that, given various hate campaigns against people who dare to speak out against the powers that be (Dixie Chicks comes to mind...).
 
Right now here in Baton Rouge Fahrenheit 451 is the big read book, everyone in the city is supposed to read it and we are having discussions and lectures on the book which have been a lot of fun. Mr bradbury went to his local fire station and asked nthem at what temperture did paper ignite and Fahrenheit 451 is the number they gave him.
