Three Down, One To Go

Please tell me what I've failed to overlook, I really would like to know. You'd not be spoiling anything for me. :D

I am about 200 pages along in AFFC. By no means am I an expert. It's apparent than many who post in this forum have re-read and studied these books in depth. Until I complete AFFC I have been mostly avoiding this forum because of all the speculating and in-depth spoilage that goes on in these threads.

It is my understanding that many believe that Jon Snow is not the ******* son of Ned Stark, but is really the son of Ned's sister Lyanna and prince Rhaegon (sp?). There may even be other theories. This is based upon how Ned refers to Jon as his blood, but not his son. There are other clues to this I'm sure I have missed in my first rather quick run through this series.

I have noticed the books are tightly interwoven, and foreshadowing and rearshadowing, if that's not a word it should be, are subtle.

I'm looking forward to reading the theory/speculation about this series that goes on in this forum, but want to be through the first four books first. I'm thinking there may be some aspects to the story that make you slap your forehead and say, "doh, how did I miss that", after they are plainly pointed out.

I hope that's a start for you. If I'm way off on this, I sure one of the experts gives you some better info.

I'm aware that people speculate Jon being Rhaegar and Lyanna's son, but I believe it is more in their heads than in page. Most of these theories are just a result of him taking so long to release books; people get bored. I don't think there is nearly as many unanswered connections that people seem to claim, most are revealed within the books, atleast thats how it seemed to me. (I reread the series around the beginning of the year I think.)

I guess I am just no fun and find little amusement in all the speculation and theory, but the claim that Jon is really Rhaegars son is just rediculous. I thought maybe I had completely misread the books, but this is only people trying to build the world into an even more fantastical one than it already is. (Nothing wrong with that. :D)

You can all stone me when Dany gives her nephew a dragon to ride. :p

I would argue that this is one theory that *is* in the pages of the book and very plain to see. I'm so confident in it that to me it's not even a theory but rather it's a fact. You can get all the clues you need right out of AGOT as I was thinking of this theory before reading the next two books (AFFC wasn't out when I started the series) and years before I ever visited a GRRM forum and/or fansite.

I know it can be hard to put all the pieces together though. GRRM drops his clues hundreds of pages apart. This page on another site puts all of the clues together nicely. However, I'll feel pretty stupid if it turns out Jon's mother really is some random chick named Wylla.

I don't want to kill you! I want you to tell me what you think. :D

Why wait to stone you ? I'd rather do it before Danny gives her nephews x2....er I mean.....her niece..ooops I mean her half brother, a ride on a lovely dragon. :p What do I think ? Not important. What do you guys think ? Most amusing! ;) The reason why I spend so much time lurking on the forum.

Welp, you've got me pegged for the near-sighted fool I am, I definitely did not make any of those associations, and I must say they are strong arguments. (And I had meant to say Ned and Ashara, I have alot of trouble keeping all of the characters squared away in my head.) I guess the principle reason I figured he was Neds son was because of such a strong resemblence. If he was Rhaegars son, I'd have imagined him to take after his father. (Though since all of Neds kids resemble their mother, and Rhaegar fathered no living children [supposedly!] this evidence works against the idea as well.)

Heres me, eating my humble pie. :D
I'm quite sorry for dismissing all the speculation, going to go reread the series once more. :p

Dany and Jon, being two of my three favorite characters (Arya!!), nothing would please me more than to see them joined together, fighting for Westeros.

Start hurling those rocks. ;)
