Little random questions

Upon which fork of the trident did Robert vanquish Rhaegar? I know it was at the Ruby Ford but I forgot which river fork that was on! Was it the Red Fork? It sounds the most fitting in my opinion but that could take the battle quite far west and I imagined it took place in the middle of the Riverlands.

GoH, The map in my edition of ACOK shows the Kingsroad crossing the Trident below (east of) the connection of the three forks. I assume the ford is the crossing of the Kingsroad... this is also the place where the High Road to the Vale and the road west to Riverrun meet.

isn't it referred to as the Ruby Ford because of the ruby-wrought Targaryen emblem on Rhaegar's breastplate, and the popular belief that the rubies fell out of their settings and were swept into the river?
thats what i always thought at least.

Wouldn't technically Tommen's surname be Hill? The first of the ******* kings?

Oops sorry Boaz, your right, the second. Was concentrating on the Hill reference and was distracted as my thoughts kept drifting to King of the Hill and therefore a Texas drawl on the Iron throne.

WS, I knew what you meant. We all make those kind of slip-ups everyday.

Pandora for opening the box that contained the game of making up generic ******* surnames for American STates.

I have a trifling random question, though it's more of a poser with no definitive answer.

While recently re-reading the strain of Arya chapters with the Hound (my favourite partnership of characters by a million miles) I found myself wondering on the following:

After the Red Wedding and the morning after Arya has the dream of Nymeria dragging Catelyn's corpse from the river, she and Sandor are eating a meal when Sandor starts saying, "About your mother..."

It kills me that Arya cut him off right there, saying something to the effect of "nevermind, I know she's dead. I saw it in a dream."

Is it possible that Sandor was actually about to say the unthinkable - "I'm sorry"?

I'm not sure what else he might've said and I realize the set-up of "about your mother..." might lead to some abusive responses regarding Catelyn, but I love the fact that, if he was about to apologize, a hard-as-nails ten year-old girl saved him the trouble. Suggestions anyone?

No thank you. I am full at the moment.

Ps: Yes, i just put forth an attempt to snatch the lamest joke award of the year.
That said, i'll anwer your post anyways... go figure... by saying that i don't think he would have said sorry, but would have tried to cushion the blow of her mothers death in his own special gruff way.

Kiwi - I most wholeheartedly congratulate your stoic restraint.:D

You're probably right about Sandor. Still, even he must've thought "Respect".
