A question about Riftwar and Silvertorn

I don't know how anyone could read any one or three Feist books without hunting down the rest with a hungry look in their eyes like I get.... lol

Then again... I love em. :D

All books connect in some way and there are a lot of cross references and plot lead-ups.

I thought Silverthorn was horrible. I would probably be due to the fact that I hate Arutha an Jimmy. Pugs story was good, and Tomas's cameo made it all worthwhile. A Darkness at Sethanon is great though.

I agree with Morgasshk.

I have read all 25 of Feist’s books (26 if you count 2 Magician books) in the Midkemia setting including The Empire series and they almost all fit together fairly well. There are a couple that fit loosely however with just faint mentions of characters that are familiar from other books.

It’s like one huge story of the life upon Midkemia.

A Darkness at Sethanon was very disappointing. He goes off on a tangent about pretty colours in space. I though it lost the direction that the previous novels had.

Hope you haven't been put off altogether.
The 'Empire' series; Daughter of the Empire, Servant of the Empire and Mistress of the Empire blew me away.

Welcome, juju. Stop by the Introductions thread if so inclined (and if you haven't already done so) and tell us a little more about yourself. Hope you like the Empire series; the collaboration brings out the best of both authors.

thanks grimward cheers sorry since im new, where may i find that introductions thread ?

Lol silverthorn is a leadup book much as Magician Apprentice was a leadup for the MAJOR events that unfold during Magician Master,

Its not as brilliant in scope as magician (if you view it as one book) but compared with magician apprentice the pacing is probs slightly different but as a setting for the next book i thought it was well written.

Plus it introduced a lot more back story to the Moredhel and Eledhel back story that we are still learning more about in the later series.

Overall its a good book if you are a fan of Arutha and Jimmy, the side you see to both characters is a good view of them, Arutha for once out of his calm controlled ways and Jimmy out of the city, admittedly its not quite as strong as Darkness at Sethanon or Magician but that could largley be owing to the story being quite different, no huge confrontations (aside from Baru going toe to toe with Murad)

Prince of the blood and The kings buccaneer shouldnt ever be included as part of that set of stories as they are the run up novels to the serpent war (more buccaneer than prince tho) both are worth reading although i found Borric and Erland far weaker characters than their father and uncle Arutha and Martin respectivley
