Sarah Connor Chronicles: TV Series

We are now at the mid point of the current season and I have to say that the story line has become more intriguing. There are some plot threads that are mysterious and somewhat convoluted, but certainly gain my interest and have me wondering what will be next. Also there are some episodes that serve as "stand-alones", e.g., Cameron's nocturnal relationship with the librarian (although it ties in with the rest of the series in that it reveals more of the character of the terminator).

There is currently a holiday hiatus with the show coming back next year. Therein lies a caveat. It will now be slated for Friday night. I recall distinctly when the same thing happened to Star Trek in its third and final season. Friday is typically the elephant's graveyard of ill-favored projects. I hope I'm just being paranoid because things are beginning to get interesting.

Terminator has been better than Heroes this season, but problems in the story telling may be creeping in. I'm noticing too many flashbacks. If I recall correctly, there was a recent episode that even had flashbacks within flashbacks.

They should be careful with that, I liked the episode, but thought the flashbacks were excessive.

Congrats on your 400th post, Clovis-man!

Re: Sarah Connor Chronicles

Hi dudebro,

not sure whether your comment meant you are enjoying the series or not.

Got to admit I was watching up to the episode where the war criminal (human turncoat) had been sent back from the future; the twist being the brother-in-law had been interogated by him but had completely wiped the memory from his mind.

Unfortunately I was just not getting enough from the series to continue 'wanting' to watch it (so deleted the 5 episodes I had saved on Sky+)

Will probably give the new film a look when it comes out! :D

Re: Sarah Connor Chronicles

I think it's because I've watched everything from the 80's film onward and just need a faster pace to keep me hooked.

A major revelation would have helped, or even more flashbacks (or flashforwards ) to the future state of affairs, as done in the new movie.

I have to agree. I've caught a few Sara episodes and I am just not all that interested.

I will be interested in the post-nuke flick though.

I mean, since we know that Sara dies of lukemia and Connor lives thru the war...what exactly is the point of watching the series?

But, I think that if they would have used a different subplot, focused on other ideas/aspects other than Sara Connor, it would have been a lot more interesting...like, say, the dudes who actually created SkyNet, or other military influences the future Terminators would try to kill off....

yo if you had watched the show in depth you would see that they DO focus on many other characters, as far as the creation of skynet and even other machines sent through time for different purposes to help their war in the future. I grew up watching the original flicks too and I say there is no substitute for the 1st and 2nd installments...the 3rd one, I dont' talk about the 3rd one, especially since it got ret-conned by the show (which is good).
Seriously though the show is the bomb and I think that you all need to give it more of a chance to rock your socks off.

Ok we don't KNOW anything because it's a show revolving around TIME TRAVEL, the show/story can change at the writers whim, that's the beauty of time travel, it makes RETCONNING things possible.

Reconnecting?

But then what would be the point of the movies?

I just don't like movies made into tv series. They bore me. No new character development.

Time travel only works in a series if there are rules, like the fabric of reality, ripping holes in time and space, ect ect ect,

And if it does change on a writer's whim constantly, well, there's another reason why I won't waste my precious me time on it. No offense.

Re: Sarah Connor Chronicles

LOL no offense could be taken! the show is not my own work or writing. I just like it and encourage others to enjoy it also. If it's not your cup-o-tea then so be it, no skin off my teeth savvy?
if time travel only works in a series where there are holes being ripped in time and space what about the movies themselves? they largly revolve around things moting through time and changing (referring to the 3rd one)

Re: Sarah Connor Chronicles

Actually in the third one nothing changed in the end, regardless of either sides time interventions.

I watched about three episodes and then lost interest.

I dig Supernatural though lol.

Re: Sarah Connor Chronicles

SUPERNATURAL? oi vey next thing I know you will be telling me you like "smallville" *puke*

anywayz in the 3rd movie all kinds of DETAILS changed, but the end result didn't. I have a suspicion that no matter what is done J-day hits in the end.

BTW dustinzgirl-
retcon:

v. to retroactively revise (a plot, storyline, character, event, history, etc.), usu. by reinterpreting past events, or by theorizing how the present would be different if past events had not happened or had happened differently

I hate Smallville, it is boring and lame and totally unoriginal. Supernatural is at least original. Plus, Dean Winchester---mmmmmmmm yummy----

Not to argue semantics, but retcon is not a word. Its a shortened version of retroactive continuity.

Re: Sarah Connor Chronicles

yeah yeah ok, it's not a word, but shortening "retroactive continuity" is a whole lot easier than typing the whole thing out every time isn't it?

I agree on smallville, that show pisses me off PLUS it jacks up the DC universe.

who's dean winchester? is he the joto with long hair?

LOL Yeah, but that's why I could not figure out what you were talking about!

Only the cartoon versions of any DC universe comic book have been worth watching IMO. Any live action movie or series has just failed on so many levels.

Dean Winchester is one of the brothers on Supernatural. And, I don't mean that I like Jensen Ackles who plays Dean Winchester, I mean I love the character of Dean Winchester. (I'm watching season one on my computer right now lol)

Re: Sarah Connor Chronicles

oh...well I wouldn't know the difference or who the heck you're talking about as far as your "supernatural" people are concerned. That show is just as bad as smallville in my mind with its ...yuckiness...

You're right about the animated vs. live action DC universe series. except the dark knight was an achievement as far as taking the live action comic book movies into the mainstream.

But you've never actually watched it? Dude, bro, its got demonic possession, vengeance, paranormal hunters, pagan gods, psychics, bad arsed angels. You have to actually watch something before you can say its yucky! And, I probably would have never watched the show if not for the car. I love classic cars, and a 67 impala is just SWEET.

Dark Knight was probably the best I've seen so far. Ghost Rider IRRITATED me to no end, the live action, the cartoon was awesome.

Re: Sarah Connor Chronicles

haha i never even watched the ghost rider movie, it just...made me mad looking at the previews for it.
I did watch an episode of "supernatural" and the car is pretty sweet, but..I just couldn't get into the show, I just thought it was crappy

Re: Sarah Connor Chronicles

For the most part, I like TSCC. I do think they could do some things better.

The show has seemed a little slow and empty ever since Cromartie stopped being Cromartie. (Although I do like John Henry) I'm not just talking about the small cast though. The way they've been ending their episodes for the past several weeks has been depressingly empty. (Although last Friday was such a good show, I didn't mind.)

I just think if they want to step up their ratings, they need to turn things up a little more. Friday nights are a scary place to be. There's nothing behind Friday.:)
