2.04: Meat

Heh...perhaps they thought it was some kind of whale....

And how did it keep growing? Did they feed it on anything? I would have thought that something that size would need a lot of food.

Well, I've seen it now - in the kiddies' version on the 7pm repeat, as I was out all yesterday. It didn't seem particularly toned down and was quite repulsive enough for me.

So the crash was just chance at the beginning? Just a device to have Rhys find out about Gwen? No, I didn't like this one.

I can't bear Tosh dreeping about after Owen (she forgot her soldier boy pretty quickly) or Owen and Jack getting all sad about the beast.

And I don't think Jack would have let Rhys stay un-mind-wiped. Can you imagine his keeping schtum after a few beers with his mates? "Guess what my missus does - it's really cool."

But as others have pointed out, Rhys was the last person in Cardiff to hear of Torchwood anyway!

Has anyone seen how Jack and Gwen are looking at each other? Ianto is becoming my favourite character, and if Jack dump Ianto because of Gwen,Im going to kill someone.

Marginal improvement over series 1, but still nothing to write home about. In Rhys' position, I'd've given Gwen a wide berth. I still can't conjure any sympathy for the characters.

Some pretty good one liners in this episode, some in a fast and furious exchange so I missed a few first time round. It was also nice to see Ianto being a bit more action orientated and less tea-boy.

Ultimately, if you ignore the alien whale-sized plot holes, this was a cracking episode. However, it was obvious that Gwen wouldn't Retcon Rhys, but for the rest of the team to stand by while lovesick Jack allowed her insubordination was a bit odd.
Was it just me, or did it seem at the end as if the alien whale (whalien?) was communicating with Jack and Owen. I've seen messages where people said they cried at the end, which is an indication that either it was a moving end to the episode, or that some of the audience are far too emotional for their own good!

Oh, and I was having steak and chips whilst watching this, it didn't put me off my food, but then again, I've not found anything that will. Mind you, I might be more careful when buying meat from Cardiff!
