I have been fan of anime a long time.

The last year thanks to other hobbies i havent seen newer anime at all.

Only old stuff like Macross.

I was wondering if there was a new series,OVA,movie you guys would recommend ?

New meaning 2006-2008.

Yeah its not really as new i wanted but i havent seen it.

Give me any other good recommendation you have.

I keep seeing The Melancholy of Haruhi Suzumiya recommended. Haven't seen it though, and I think it's a hate it/love it show.

If you like mecha you definitely need to check out Tengen Toppa Gurren Lagann and Code Geass. Those two anime have been the top anime I've watched the past 2 years or so.

Gurren Lagann is an over the top roller coaster ride of an anime. It is Gainax's newest masterpiece and the ending is actually phenomenal. The characters are memorable, the action is off the charts, the music is stellar and the animation is awesome except for 1 episode.

Code Geass I like because of the anti-hero main protagonist. It poses the question of what lengths would you go to change the world if you had the power to do so. It also has this trainwreck appeal to it which will keep your eyes glued to the screen.

This is supposed to be good. It's been licensed for an R1 release, so it has been taken down from the torrent sites. I am looking forward to checking it out.

Thanks alot !

I didnt know about Code Geass.

How about Mobile Suit Gundam 00?? It's still in its first season. If you see any resemblesances with Wing, it's intentional.

I have heard the resemblesances with Wing in other forum, i wonder whats the deal with that ?

I have no plan on seeing 00 soon. I have seen only Gundam Wing,Seed,Destiny so far. I will se the old classic Gundams before more new Gundams.

You know how Seed was like introducing the classic Gundam story to newer audiences???

00 is doing the same thing except with Wing.

Heh i wouldnt know about introducing classic Gundam story to newer audiences having not seen the classic ones :p

I took Wing,Seed etc for what they were on their own not knowing what they might try to renew.

Speaking about newer anime recs, has anyone seen Darker Than Black ? Its a dark SF with super powered beings done in a mature way and not the shonen way.

I've seen the first ep of Darker than Black. It's not bad; it just hasn't appealed to me as much as some other anime (such as Blood+, Eureka 7, Shakugan no Shana, Guyver , and Mai Otome), so I'm saving it for later. Still, it does look like something I'd like, as does Persona, so I'll be looking forward to both of them when I get around to them.

It may be a bit violent for your tastes but i thoroughly enjoyed Claymore. The anime was well done and kept true to the manga til its final episodes when they went for a quick rap up. Still a good show, the manga is awesome and is still being released monthly.

Melancholy of Haruhi Suzumiya is good...it should be watched as it was originally broadcast...it has three different orders you can watch it in...its cute and has good characters and an interesting storyline, its a big favourite amoungst many of my friends. I still think Azumanga Daioh is better though heh

Death Note was very good-dark, great characters and fantastic plot twists and turns.

Ghost in the Shell's Stand Alone Complex's are pretty good too.

Other new shows? Would you consider Bleach new? Love that show. The new Naruto Shippuuden is going well also.

Thanks for the recs.

I have already watched all of Claymore. Enjoying the manga right now. Whose art is much cooler than the old looking anime animation.

Death Note is one of my all time fav mangas. Anime was useless. They changed Light too much. Manga is much darker, more shocking.

I havent heard Melancholy before.

GITS i ashamed enough not to watched much of.

you're welcome ;) Yeah loving the manga, most recent chapter was amazing (Return of the Seven Ghosts) there is a guy on youtube that's edited the chapters with music and he's really good at it...his names xRisox and he's done pretty much every chapter from the anime so thats like chapters 46-78 or something...absolutely brilliant.

D.Gray-Man i've only caught a bit of...the animation is pretty good and the stoyline seems quite cool, felt a bit like a mix between Fullmetal Alchemist and Hellsing, didn't grab me though ~shrugs~ may get around to it one day heh

Well, I don't read manga--tried a few but I didn't like it--but I absolutely loved Claymore. It was awesome! I also very much enjoyed The Melancholy of Haruhi Suzumiya. Death Note didn't move me like those did, but I must admit I found it intriguing.

You have read little DN manga ? Keep reading specially if you found it intriguing, it gets much better.

About mangas, try reading mangas of your favorit animes.

Cause 99% of the famous animes are shorter versions of their manga versions.

Before i became a manga fan and i like manga much more than i like anime, i watched anime and when they ended there is only the manga version left. Cause they are the script for their animes and usually they end with a finished story.

Oops! Sorry! I meant that I loved the animes ... not the manga. I can see by rereading my post that I definitely was not clear on that. The manga I tried were Eureka 7 and One Piece, and I like both the anime series very much but the manga just didn't appeal to me. And this is coming from someone who does very much like Western comics.

D.Gray-Man is fantastic. It's not exactly a new concept, but the execution is a great deal of fun.

If you fancy some new(ish) Manga, give The Kurosagi Corpse Delivery Service a go. Brilliant stuff.
