If there was a movie?

Hello again again...lol

well as my mother would point out very readily (shes been a Depp fan since Jump Street) he lots of depth and more potential then other people would think. so maybe he might have a hard time shedding Sparrow but he shedded Scissor hands too..

That's true, too. I've seen him in other films, and he doesn't seem to bring his characters through into his current ones. Maybe it's because Jack Sparrow was such a big character? I don't know. Definitely an interesting point to raise, though.

With the exception of Garion, I think that Silk may just be the most complicated person to cast.:)

Hey, that's my 1000th post! Thanks to everyone who helped me get this far!

Congrats

Yes Silk is the hardest charactor to cast bar none although I still think Depp could do it. Jack Sparrow was a big charactor but remember he did Chocolate factory in-between PotC 1 and 2. i havnt seen the movie personnally because the movie isnt right. i mean y make a remake on a great movie (yes the origonal with Gene Wilder was great) anyway i seem to have gone on a bit of a tangent where were we?

Lol! Casting Silk? I see your point, though. I saw Charlie and the Chocolate Factory, and yes he was completely different in that. It's because Silk is somewhat of a rogue, too, that made me think that the viewers might keep comparing him with Jack Sparrow as well, especially the ones who haven't read the books.

i think we need to make a legion of warriors that force people to read the book b4 seeing the movie! anyone up for it?

and as for Silk being a Rogue he is but in a good way theres good rogues and bad rogues. sparrow is definatly the latter whereas silk is the first...
so in essence people cant compare direct opposites

Well, yes - that's what I meant when I said that the two are completely different types in my opinion. It's hard to imagine, but there are some who can't tell the difference.

A legion of warriors to force people to read the books first? That's a novel idea!:) It would certainly make film reviews more interesting to read/watch, if the critics had all of the information to judge it properly.

Who is this person you speak of he must be hunted down and hit with the belgariad books!!!

yes... wanna be my general?

Lol again! I'm all for getting people to read, but not so much by force! Although I think that quite a lot of people have already read the Belgariad anyway.

on the contrary there is a whole generation of people who havent and if the movie comes out itll probably be in this generations time and they wont understand the story plot at all...

And yet there could be people who saw the possible film and read the books afterwards (like I did with LotR), and then come on forums like this and talk about how different the two versions are!:)

then there are people like me who read the books in 2-5 days and then see the movies. but my kind of people are few and far between...unfortunatly

ALL THE DIFFERENCE IN THE WORLD!!

now back to the topic.....ideas for a actor for Garion or any others we havent metioned as of late?

Okay, I read the Belgariad & Mallorean years ago but they are my comfort reads whenever I need cheering up. I'm intrigued by the ideas of who could play who-as the film (s) will probably never be made. Heres my input:

Garion- Zak Efron (with less grooming)
Barak-Brian Blessed
Silk- John Cusack (roughed up a bit)
Polgara- Lucy Lawless
Belgarath- Oliver Reed
Zakath-Alan Rickman
Torak- David Bowie (I loved Labyrinth!)
Durnik- Bill Pullman
Ce'Nedra- Molly Ringwald (Back when)
Mandorelan- Rupert Everett
Hettar-Lou Diamond Phillips (Again Back When)
Porenn- Naomi Watts
Rhodar- Marlon Brando (this is fantasy right?)
Zandramas-Charlize Theron
:)

I like the idea of David Bowie as Torak!:) I would never have thought of casting him in the role!

Welcome to the Chronicles, daisybee!:)

I like the idea of Brian Blessed as Barak. I saw him in panto xmas 05, you'd never have guessed he was nearly 70, he's amazingly energetic!

Give it a couple of years, and I think Dakota Fanning will be truly annoying enough to do Ce'Nedra justice! That girl RUINED War of the Worlds for me *seethes*

Hi, Daisybee, welcome to you :)

I like the choices for Polgara,Barak,Belgarath,Mandorallen,Garion,Hettar and Zandramas

but ummm wheres Zedar?
and Marlon Brando is unfortuantly dead.....
and ummm John Cusack is just a touch too tall for the role of Silk...

Nice choice for Polgara though
She was the Actress from Xena: Warrior Princess for those who dont know who that is.. ( i know there are a few) She has plenty of Prescence only problem is trying to get her into a dress not made out of Leather... (good luck with that!)

Thanks for the welcome! More thoughts, (oh and I'm just naming actors from any era dead or alive, cos it's never gonna happen, and so what the heck!:) )

Asharak- Charles Dance (Golden Child style!)
Zedar-Gene Hackman
Aldur- Anthony Hopkins
Velvet- Scarlett Johansen
Relg- John Lithgow
Taiba- Sandra Bullock (sexy & sarky)
Vella- Salma Hayak
Lelldorin- Ron Howard (Happy Days era ernest but dumb)
Beldin- Bob Hoskins (Ugg him up, but keep the twinkle!)

Silk- Revisited- Jonathon Rhys Meyers (Gormenghast ish)?

thoughts?:)
