Your favourite ever character

Very un-easy choice to make!

Either Itkovian from Erikson's Memories of Ice or, as many have mentioned, Tyrion Lannister.

I'll have to go for Arithon, exiled prince and masterbard, from The Wars of Light and Shadow. A great hero, but with a good pile of flaws that make the story interesting. Tyrion Lannister is a good choice. Talk about a survivor!

Vimes is good but Esme Weatherwax gets my vote as far as Discworld goes.
but what about Lazarus Long?
or one of Moorcock's CHampions or companions to champions?

too many to choose from

I'm liking the character of Kvothe from The Name of the Wind and because he's the latest character in mind, I'll pick him. Honourable mentions to Dumbledore (he speaks to me!), Sam Vines and Karigan from the books by Kristen Britain.

I would have to give an honorary shout out to Glokta from Joe Abercrombie's First Law Trilogy, who is just an awesome character with an excellent character arc from start to finish in the trilogy.
I have to agree that Glokta is a great character Werthead. I would have to say though, that my favourite character is Faraday from the Axis & Wayfarer Redemption trilogies by Sara Douglass. She's such a strong character.

Before i read David Gemmell it would been impossible to say my favorit ever character cause i have so many favorits. But his main characters, supporting characters i feel more for than in any other books i have read.

Despite my nick my favorite character is Jon Shannow from Shannow series by D. Gemmell. He is by far the most interesting anti-hero i have read in fantasy and even in all of genre fiction.
A hero that doesnt want to be a hero but have to cause of his belief, skills and the violent, dark world he lives in. I liked that much more than i would a shining knight that thinks he is a godsend to save people.

Second placed characters that would be favorit ever if not for Shannow are :

Parker from Parker novels by Richard Stark aka Donald E.Westlake
Connavar from Rigante
Druss from Legend
Edmond Dantes
Gully from Bester's TSMD
Ghyl Tarvoke from Emphyrio by Jack Vance
Harry Bosch by Michael Connelly HB series.
Lew Archer by Ross Macdonald's Archer series.

I'm tempted to pick the one and only LESTAT from Ann Rice's Vampire Chronicles, though not sure if he counts as sci-fi/fantasy.
So it's got to be DRUSS from Gemmells LEGEND, got me into fantasy in the first place, a proper Hero type character.

I thought her books was urban fantasy like most vamp, mage books set in a modern and urban setting ?

Also i dont think you should limit to sf/f i i didnt despite i read sf/f most anyway.

To be honest Conn, I'm not sure:confused:, Rice's books may well be classed as urban fantasy but i've never really thought of her books in a fantasy type of way.
I'd probably therefore pick Lestat as my fav character, total loveable anti-hero. Vain, selfish, emotional, ruthless, troubled etc etc. A class act.

That's an easy one. Einstein from Dean Koontz' Watchers. Why? I think anyone who likes animals will agree there is just something appealing about a dog who can truly communicate on human level. Heck, sometimes I think my dog does it.

A second choice for me would be Henry Detamble from Time Traveler's Wife. I am practically in love with that man.
