i know it's from a guy boasting about himself slaying a great foe in the battle of the blackwater (i think) whose shield bore a red chicken,
I can't remember his name though.

too long time between the books and 2 bad tv show seasons. With the last one leaving a bad taste in the mouth for me personally.
