Character name pronunciations

I think I'm more an A-ri-uh person.

A as in apple; ri as in risk (or how I pronounce revenge); uh as in unless (basically, a schwa).

I too am in the Ar-ee-ya styled camp. The idea of pronouncing a name like are - ya makes it seem funny to me. As if her name is constantly asking a question... are ya well well are ya ?

As an aside I love how people have come up with such a diverse pronunciation of names I think however sounds best to you is part of taking the story and making it your own for a little while :)

The three-syllable pronunciation makes more sense of her pseudonym, Arry (which would be her own name minus the final syllable**); unless, that is, you think that having a pseudonym that's almost the same as your own name is rather foolish and - in the circumstances - dangerous.

** - With or without the second vowel slightly lengthened. (How do you pronounce Arry? ;) )

'Hey Ern, it's 'Arry! 'Arry Stark! On my bus! Wot're the odds...'

That's a good point, Urse, I think our side is definitely on a winner here.

Now, if only I can convince EVERYONE that Jaime rhymes with lame, tame, and blame...

Look at it this way, TSW: they're probably worried about the strength of their argument.

Whereas I know I'm right. ;):)

George and I share something in that we're both American, and in this country we actually pronounce the "h."

That's why I think her nickname of Arry makes sense either way. It wouldn't be a shortening of her name but a masculinization.
