I had always assumed it was standard two spaces after a full stop, and one space after anything else. There might be some variations on this but i am pretty sure publishers and agents prefer two spaces as opposed to one space.

You can put one or two spaces - it won't make a difference as to whether your book is taken on!

I think the main problem is that there is so much misinformation out there, it is often hard to find the typical layout that most prefer. Whether it be what font, colour, size etc is used, as there are many people saying different things. Having said that, i think good content is what publishers and agents are looking for.

As ever, clean, typed on one side of the paper, in a clearly readable font and double-spaced are the absolutes.
