Reading She, by H. Rider Haggard. Began the book Sunday and, despite my extremely busy day yesterday I've got to the halfway point now....

Still reading Doomsday Book by Connie Willis and it is excellent! :p

Picked up Koontz's Odd Thomas todat at the library we have at work, just read it all in one go. Really liked it and will be looking into the next 3 books

Back to The name of the Wind for now

Is it like 100 pages ?

I read The Jugger by Stark a 1960's Roman Noir in only a couple of hours.

When i was reading i thought it took me 4-5 hours but in real time it was less than two hours.

Still reading The Stand (unabridged version)...it's taking quite a while.

You might be there for a looong time - it took me about six weeks, I think. But it was well worth it! How far in are you, by the way?

---

I finished Erikson's Toll the Hounds about twenty minutes ago. Fantastic. And there were some amazing, shall we say, events, some of which will be devastating.

I can't wait for the next one to be written and published! :p

But whilst I wait for that (and, much earlier, Esslemont's Return of the Crimson Guard), its back to Modesitt's Saga of Recluce, with me restarting The Chaos Balance.

I'm currently reading Carnival: Entertainments and Posthumous Tales, by Isak Dinesen. I love the way she tells a story.

Just finished I am Legend by Richard Matheson which was great and Voice of Our Shadow by Jonathan Carroll, which seemed like a bit of a strange inclusion in the Fantasy Masterworks series, it was ok but seemed a bit like a young adult book and it finishes very abrubtly.

Off to the bookstore now to try find something new :).

LOL. No, not quite. The edition I'm reading (I have two, rather different, editions) is 240 pp. in length for She itself (it also includes King Solomon's Mines and Allan Quartermain....). It's just that Haggard tells a very good story very well, and I stayed up a bit later than I should last night to get to that point....

Just finished Assassin's Quest by Robin Hobb earlier tonite. I loved the series all in all. Was quite good.

Will be starting Last Argument of Kings by Joe Abercrombie when I get the thing in the mail. (Hurry up, mailman!)

Currently reading Chronicles of Amber by Roger Zelazny. Halfway through Guns of Avalon, loving it thus far.

Nowhere near as long as the other fantasy books and consequently everything is happening at a rapid rate. Very enjoyable.

Just finished Vicious Circle by Mike Carey (I'd strongly recommend the Felix Castor series to any Dresden fans)

Picked up Un Lun Dun by China Meiville

I agree with Ice Fyre. I've read no series that I've enjoyed more than those. Then you have the Soldier Son trilogy, which isn't as good but is still great, especially Shaman's Crossing.

I'm reading:

Gardens of the Moon by Steven Erikson
The Chronicles of Thomas Covenant by Stephen Donaldson
Conviction of the Innocent by Chester Porter QC
A Darkness at Sethanon by Raymond E Feist
Magician's Gambit by David Eddings
The Sum of All Men by David Farland

I enjoyed the Whole of Robin hobbs Asassins Apprentice trilogy, I would reccomend going onto the Liveship Traders then to the Tawny man trilogy, once you start you cant stop! :D
It seems everyone on here has read Robin Hobbs but me! Must find out what all the fuss is about!

I've been reading it for about a week, and I'm halfway through it. I read lots. :D

The books are a bit strange as we follow the life of the Royal ******* "Fitz" in first person, then in the Liveship trader's she pulls off a massive coup in my opnion, of course not telling what it is but all is not as it seems. She returns to first person to the concluding triology. There the real story ends. Very sadly.

i loved them all, a good read and not too difficult either. havnt read soldier son yet and am getting round to it at some point. Sorry advert for Robin hobbs finished:eek:

Out of interest have you tried the FOOL's series that seems to be tied into the trilogy. I made the mistake of buying one of the later ones and as I haven't found the earlier books I have had to leave it. Just wondered if they were as good before I get serious about finding the rest.

War Fever short story collection by JG Ballard

I like his What If kind of stories. On the second story called The Secret History of World War III
