Authors whose other work is over shadowed by one tale?

Marry Shelley wrote more than Frankenstein
Bram Stroker had quit a few other than Dracula

Marry wrote The Last Man which is a great novel intuit own wright but is largely forgotten

Bram Stoker wrote several novels , of which the best remember are, The Jewel of Seven Stars and Lair of the White Worm both of which were adapted into movies.

Mark Danielewski so far remains pretty much the House of Leaves guy, I haven't seen any of his followups even get mentioned online. Though to be fair, it did seem from what I tried to read of Only Revolutions that he was self-consciously trying to recreate that magic.

I would place A. Conan Doyle in this category. Sherlock Holmes over shadows anything else he wrote, like his stories about Professor Challenger and the Lost World.

So would Arthur Conan Doyle himself. He considered The White Company to be his best work and yet, then and now, all you ever really hear about are his Sherlock Holmes stories.
