Eyes of the Dragon

Well it has been some time since I've read it, but I clearly remember enjoying it at the time!
Each to their own I suppose!!!

For anyone buying a King book expecting a King style of storytelling - you're going to be disappointed. Personally I loved it; it was something different and scary in it's own way. I think the closest thing I can compare it to is a un-Disney-fied Grimms' fairy tale.

As for the mini-series of The Stand; it's not the worst, but probably the best thing about it is Blue Oyster's ' Don't Fear The Reaper' soundtrack. The ending's a bit silly too, but I actually really liked James Sheridan as Flagg, and it's his face I picture when I read King's novels with him in it 'Rub-a-dub-dub!'

Eyes of the Dragon was the first book of his I read, as well as the first adult feeling book and remember really enjoying it. It ended up migrating to Australia with me so I'll give it another read in the near future. From there I went on to try reading The Dark Tower but found that not so easy at the time. I probably bought it for the cover more than anything back then.

I very much enjoyed Eyes of the Dragon, but the catch is I was reading it as a forerunner to the Dark Tower series. I had already read several of the Dark Tower books, and I wanted to consume more of King's other works that tied into it. So, with that mindset, I did enjoy it. Even beyond the DT connections, I thought it was a nice fairy tale-style fantasy, and I found the narration style really interesting. I've read King doing many genres, but this is the first time I thought his "voice" was actually different. Tbh the writer it most reminded me of was C.S. Lewis. I agree with some of the criticisms, like how the characters are much simpler than King usually writes, but if you go in expecting and wanting something light and fairy tale-ish, I think you'll enjoy it. Imo it's a nice book to read a few chapters from before going to sleep.

Im surprised that this one has never been adapted large or Small screen.
