I loved the belgariad and the mallorean so much, I am reading them for the third time!!!
I found it difficult to get into The Elder Gods, but my love of all things eddings is pushing me on with them. Am waiting in anticipation for the next one to come out. Anyone know when?

I really enjoyed all of his earlier works, Belgariad, Mallorean, Elenium and The Tamuli.:)

I also found The Elder Gods rather difficult. Almost as if reading a different authors works. I certainly won't be buying The Elder Gods or its sequel.

I enjoyed just about all of his works ... even those later ones including Elder Gods and co ... the only one I couldn't get into was Regina's song

There seems to be some negative feelings here about DE's later work? I'm a fan through and through and just enjoy his fantasy writing for what it is. All fantasy novels are the same - there's the inherant bad guys and there's the good guys who all seem to be affiliated with a god of some sort. Good wins out in the end, and along the way people that you like die. That's the long and short of it. Apart from this, treat each of his books (or series) as a new experience. Try to forget what you've read before and enjoy the new environments and characters. I really love the intricate way he works his stories, and manipulates his characters. I'm looking forward to the rest of the Elder Gods series having enjoyed the first 2 books.:)

I would have to agree with this ... I liked ... the different way he told the story in the first few series ... the whole 'first person' approach to the stories.
