Christmas Special 2008 - Children In Need excerpt (spoilers!!)

PTeppic, we could all be horribly wrong. I hope we aren't, but RTD's ability to craft ruinous plots (second part of the last season finale and the Doctor turning into a house elf being obvious examples (should not be underestimated).

Dr J said:
As to the Doctor announcing himself as a Time Lord to complete strangers, he did that in 'Voyage of the Damned' to the group of survivors he was leading when he went and did his big speech, but this was, admittedly, a bit different.

It was more the "If you could stand back, sir! This is a job for a Time-Lord!!" way of announcing himself....

I reckon we need to find out what avatar RTD is using on this forum. Well, I mean, I reckon he peeks in at us now and then and if he hasn't sorted out the plot by now, all the stuff written on this thread will give him a wealth of ideas of what (and what not) to use.

Just to state what we already know - the 'sonic' screwdriver that the Next Doctor has is just a plain old, wooden-handled screwdriver (looks like a Phillips-head one I've got!) and the 'Cyberman' is someone in fancy dress with a homemade mask and some sort of wooly/hairy cloak covering the rest of them.

Quick update - found out this week that this wooly cyberthing is apparently the 'Cybershade' which was mentioned in spoilers at some point.

I cant recall the Doctor giving out his sonic screwdriver all too often though, He doesn't usually ask his companion for it, just whips it out of his pocket doesn't he?

Okay - quick update from TPTB. Apparently David Morrissey's Doctor is a future incarnation of the Doctor.
RTD himself has said in the new DWM that - "The new Doctor is absolutely not a conman.... Of course there is the mystery of why David Morrissey's Doctor doesn't recognise the Tenth, but that's the point -as you'll see, the whole story focuses on that. What terrible things have happened to make him forget?"

That's just rubbish. And they made future-Doctor too cocky.

And what about a male companion for once?

Oh dear. My hopes for the 25th are diminishing. It's sounds like it's going to need something better than RTD is typically capable of to pull it out of the fire.

Except...RTD is kind of a past master when it comes to disinformation... "He's absolutely not x" ...ergo, he's x.:D:rolleyes:

I'm glad you said this, because I was thinking why on earth they are (the writers) not mixing with the other doctors (previous or future incarnations)? Well, there's the answer in the Christmas Special.

The reason why I didn't say it aloud, was that I've been thinking it for quite sometime and secretly wishing that one day I might be able to write an episode for the Doctor Who.

I don't think anyone has yet mentioned there is a new trailer, as we get closer:
BBC - Doctor Who - Advent Calendar 2008

Not that it really adds much, except Dervla's character clearly knows about Cybermen, and indeed she is presumably the one who has brought them to that period of space-time, to create a new industrial revolution.

The rumour-mill has gone into overdrive on this one - a new one reported that all of the Doctor's previous incarnations will feature in this episode, most likely as a montage of clips as the Doctor tries to remind his future self what it means to be 'The Doctor'.
