Seeing as its December 1st, thought I would start the new reading thread. Hope no one minds. :)

I finished Fellowship of the Ring, and have moved on to The Two Towers. I'm amazed at how many things I had forgotten about that happened in the books, compared to the movies. I was definately due for a reread, and I'm quite enjoying it.

I'm reading The Dragonbone Chair as well as Forest Mage by Robin Hobb. Both great reads!!

I've just finished Ian C. Esslemonts Knight of Knives aand am now moving on to Return of the Crimson Gaurd prior to Toll The Hounds.

After I've finished with the Malazan books i'll be purchasing The Grave Thief by Tom Lloyd, book three of his Twilight Herald series and a book I've been waiting ages for.

I just read Juggler of Worlds and found myself admiring the way Niven and Lerner turned the whole prehistory of Ringworld around by showing the events from a different perspective.

I've just finished reading Red Seas under Red Skies and I thoroughly enjoyed it. I even found myself with tears in my eyes on two occasions. I look forward to his next book, but hope that it will be the last one with these people, as I think a fourth one would be overdoing it.

I've now started in on Before They Are Hanged. I really like the barbarians in these books.

Nearly finished Curse of the Mistwraith, and have ordered the next two books (at least I think they are the next two) so will crack on with the series if they arrive in the next few days. If not I have Scar Night by Alan Campbell waiting in reserve.

Pretty sure that Lynch has said there will be seven books in the series.

He has? I can't imagine how he can keep it fresh for 7 books, but that doesn't mean that he can't, though.

EDIT: Looking at his official homepage confirms what you said: there will be 7 books in the series.

Juggler of worlds? I never heard of this one is it part of a series?

I'm just finished Jim Butchers, Small Favour latest in the Harry Dresden series, and am now reading Alan Campbell Iron Angel, second volume of the Deepgate Codex.

Iron Angel is so far a great read, the story is very dark and quite original. The first (Scar Night) was set in a city suspended over a great pit by mighty chains haunted by angels. The second in the series deals with an oncoming war in which humanity has the choice be enslaved or die then be enslaved. Not cheerful stuff but gripping.:D

I just finished the Harper Hall trilogy by Anne McCaffrey. I'm now reading Dragonflight, the first of her original Pern books. I'm really enjoying this series. :)

The Dragonrider books are some of my favorites. Hope you continue to enjoy them! :)

Simian, would appreciate your comments on CotMW in the Wurts sub-forum on that topic: http://www.sffchronicles.co.uk/forum/46989-curse-of-the-mistwraith-where-the-atheran-journey.html

It appears that you liked it, and I'd like to see your critique of the book.

Just finished Forest Mage and have moved on to Mistborn by Brandon Sanderson

I have started reading Snake Agent by Liz Williams.

Enjoying everything so far, Inspector Chen is my kind of hero in this kind of story, the chinese mythology, the worlds everything !

I didnt expect anything other than some hazy picture of a good urban fantasy.

Im so glad i started reading Williams with this book and not one of her sf books i saw in the store earlier.

Shame there isnt a thread about this author.....

P.S Thanks Murphy i only checked out this book in fantasticfiction because your post about in this thread which led to the interesting synopsis to an even better story.

I'm still trying to finish Toll The Hounds. It seems to get better towards the end. Is it just me or has anyone else noticed that this book is not written as well as his previous books?
