December's Delights in Reading

Finally finished Brisingr by Christopher Paolini. I found it very easy and enjoyable to read, although of course this is supposedly a YA book. I believe it was said that it was now considered a book for adults but apart from a few battles there wasn't much in there that children couldn't read in my opinion. I asked my eldest, who has read the first book and she said it was ok and could she borrow my other two books! :D

Now I've just starting 'The Chaos Crystal, Book Four of The Tide Lords' by Jennifer Fallon. It didn't take very long to remember the characters and what had gone before. As with other books there are characters who are so well portrayed that I just couldn't help but like or hate! :)

I just finished a short story by Orsen Scott Card called "Sandmagic". The first of his that I have read and I found I quite liked his style. Somewhat Dunsanian it seemed to me.

It almost goes without saying that I've now launched myself into Summer Knight. Mmmmm! Candy!

Change of plan...scratch the Tom Holt book, instead I'm reading Red Dwarf: Infinity Welcomes Careful Drivers by Grant Naylor.

Finaly finished "[FONT=&quot]A KISS OF JUDAS" by Julian Osgood Field,or "X.L." from "Aut diabolus aut nihil".A good and pleasent strange tale, even if you see the ending a mile of.

Just finished NEW WRITINGS IN SF 1 edited by John Carnell. Good book, noteable for an especially intriguing story by Brian W. Aldiss called "Man of Bridge." The first nine volumes of this series sat unread on my shelf for many years. Multitude of thanks to Moss for putting a bug in my ear about how good they are. :)

Well, I've been reading "The Words We Live By" - which is an annotated version of the US Constitution, and rather interesting reading. And my X-mas pressie - "What Would MacGyver Do?" - b/c it's about folks making like MacGyver! *g*

Of course, I also have "Small Favor" tucked to the side waiting it's turn for when I get back to my 2nd read through. I need to be done w/ the 2nd time through by April when "Turn Coat" releases! =)

Ok. not long now before New Year hits other parts of the world, so I'm locking this thread, please head to January for any new additions.

Happy 2009!
