I have a wager with Mr.Martin

Alvarez changed the perception of us being a "whatever" team.

He was great, he's now the AD for UW.

As AD he also managed to hire Bo Ryan for our B-ball team, who's been utterly amazing. Between the two they share the "Most Under Appreciated College Coach" award.

Oh, and for just pro football fans that hate on Ron Dayne, he alone could break defenses in college ball.

He was amazing to watch.

So am I the only Falcons and Bulldogs fan here?

Sad.

And the Bulldogs need to be slapped for losing to Tech. Seriously, wtf...

Yeah, viZ, you've run off seven straight. But the cyclical nature of the rivalry is brutal. You see this in a list. In the first 12 games, NC led 7-6-1... that's a rivalry. Then ND dominated the 40's and 50's before SC reversed this from '67-82. Then ND took back the series from '83-'95. ND was up 42-26-5 before the current streak. Now SC is pounding us. But you know in your heart that you stole the 2005 game.

Speaking of rivalries, the Badgers led the Gophers 21-19-3 before Alvarez was hired. Paul Bunyan's Axe has gone to Wisconsin in fourteen of the last nineteen games.

Sorry, KESpires, but what do you mean wtf? Tech has three National Championships... Dawgs have none.

Oh geez, trust me, I know all about Notre Dame's dominance before this current run by USC. I grew up with USC losing every year. I always hated the fact that the glory years were before I was born (1977). Now I get to enjoy USC victories :).

I love that game every year.

Not so much because of whatever team is doing what in their season, we could both be crappy, but just how excited both teams are about the contest.

It's what college football should be.

Yeaah well Manchester United kick all their asses...Oh wait, your talking about American Football (*Cough* Rugby imitation*) :p
Sail-Sharks>American Football teams.

And yeah Stainless Steel turns a **** game into a decent game almost worthy of older Total War games.

Isn't Manchester United owned by the same Americans that own the Tampa Bay Bucaneers? ;)

Have you ever actually watched a football game?

Real Football or American Football? If you mean the former, then yes, obviously, plenty. It's -alright- just vexxes me how pathetic it can be at times.

The Dawgs won the national championship in 80.

But all that aside, this was supposed to be their year. And it turns out they are probably one of the more overrated teams of the year, smashed by Alabama and flat out embarrassed by Florida.

As for the Tech game, they were ahead, and comfortably so, until they just didn't come back out to play in the 3rd quarter.

26 unanswered points?

That's just tragic...

At least Ryan's doing a good job getting a nice season going for the Falcons. I can live with them being 8-4 right now.

They do, I wasn't joking.

It's the Glazer family.

And I hope that you didn't call American football a pussy sport, lol.

No, real football is in a way. Although why dont you guys play American Football without all that padding? *Grin*

They used to, until everyone ended up broken.

I lost 5 players including two starters in our game on Saturday.

This is after having over 15 listed on the injury report a week before the game.

They play Australian Rules football in little more than boots, socks, shorts and string vests. (At least they did a few years back - I've haven't seen any recent games.)

The players got too big, too fast, and too hard-hitting. If it weren't for all that padding there would be a serious to life-threatening injury on just about every play. Even with the padding, someone gets paralyzed from the neck down about once every two years. Go to YouTube and look up "Anquan Boldin hit" and you'll get idea why they need protection. I'd look it up for you but YouTube is blocked here at work. Boldin's jaw was shattered on this hit. He was back playing two or three weeks later even though he still eats through a straw ;).

Oh, that made me laugh! :) I wouldn't call football a pussy sport, ever. They have to play with pads, if they didn't there wouldn't be anyone to play football. And we Americans love our football.

I thought my fantasy team was done when Tom Brady went out the first game, but I'm in the second round of the playoffs this week. I might get lucky too, as none of my starters are injured this week. (first week that has happened in awhile.)

And for those interested in talking football there is a Football thread here at Chrons.

Oh, well when one has to add the word "ice" before hockey, that reassures me they actually know what they are talking about...and don't tell me that other kind that girls play in skirts is real hockey. Huh, insulting! And if you a truly rough sport, try Lacrosse.

Anyways, I love SOCCER as well. But, what's that saying: there are better actors on the pitch than on the stage OR rugby is a barbarians game played by gentlemen while soccer is a gentlemen's game played by barbarians.

Oh, and as for football, the Canadian version (CFL) uses a 110 yard field with only 3 downs and a bigger ball= a harder game ;)
