Christmas Special 2008 - The Next Doctor

Indeed a little shallow this year, and while the deleted scenes (of the Doctor (the real one) searching for two heartbeats) wouldn't have given the game away early for us, I think many people guessed the game was up before the half way point. The thing that I'd read a week or so ago about the TARDIS being a hot air balloon (Tethered Aerial Release Developed In Style) but decided not to post would have been a big giveaway. To quote Jackson Lake it was "Nonsense. Marvellous nonsense." RTD has said he preferred that there was no real explanation for the Cybershades - there didn't need to be. The Cyber King was very steampunk as has been said, but it appeared rather pointless ultimately. Is it the cynic in me, or was the Cyber King required this time to flesh out the next wave of Who toys?

Now i've had the chance to watch it again, got to say it was better than last years special. and i had to laugh at the explination of the (non) sonic screwdriver and the TARDIS name

I'm probably one of the few people in Australia who has seen it (gotta love the internet). I didn't think it was brilliant but hey, it was Docter Who. And it was good to see him finally having a good Christmas for once.
