That's good to know. There were a couple of times in Oblivion where slaying somebody who'd surrendered ruined the quest. One that springs to mind is the quest to uncover the truth about the Fighter's Guild and the Blackwood Company. I had to beat a guy who'd surrendered into talking but not beat him hard enough to kill him. This made me hesitant to kill anybody surrendering in Skyrim. That's an oddity with Skyrim: anyone saying they surrender is always lying. It makes you feel like a merciless lunatic, but then this is fantasy Viking land, after all. Slay everything!
One of the best storytelling in gaming.
Too bad the sequel doesn't convey the same sense of wonder. Oh, but I guess that's commonplace for sequels anyway.Totally agreed. It's an amazing video game.
This was me when it came out. I still haven't finished it...In picked up Wasteland 2 in a GOG.com sale (£5.99). It's a tough one. It's a kind of Fallout 2 clone. I've still got a soft touch for the old isometric perspective. I started a game on Rookie level and struggled for quite a bit of time. Even the cockroaches are tougher than me right now! I'm getting a bit better and starting to make a bit of progress. I'm enjoying it up to a point but I think it's going to be a grind all the way through. I already know that it's a game I'll never finish.
It's a The Road rip-off.I restarted The Last of Us on the PS4. I don't think it's an exceptional game, so much as a good game with exceptional character development and atmosphere (especially the score). It reminds me of a mixture of Day of the Triffids and Dawn of the Dead, and if written as a novel would be fine, but not ground-breaking. The lead character, Joel, is a video game tough guy but is also a pretty convincing character. There are lots of nice touches, none of them necessary to the plot, that build up character in the story. He's got a way of saying "Yep..." in a reluctant, slightly menacing way that reminds me of Clint Eastwood.
