What Game Are You Currently Playing?

There are quite a lot of systems in the game, so perhaps looking at what he does will give you more clues on what can be done!
Will do.

Edit: Really enjoyed watching the video and thought I'd post it here for others. Warning - profanities from the start.

Today in Project Zomboid I discovered that there is a sandbox mode where I can make adjustments to suit my inexperience and lack of dexterity. I set it up to have a low number of slow-moving zombies in order that I could concentrate on trying to master the controls.

I killed my first zombie (without a weapon). I shoved it to the ground and stomped on its head (sounds like a drunken Saturday night in some of the rougher places in Scotland). I also got myself a car and had fun driving around sight seeing.
I also learned that if you smash a window with your hands and then climb through, you’re going to get quite a few cuts. This is proof that in real life I have no idea how to break into a house and would make a pretty poor burglar.

I think if I ever get to grips with the controls, this has the potential to be a really fun game. I don’t normally do multiplayer but (assuming I get a bit more proficient) I think I could make an exception for this game.

I lasted six hours (game time - about half an hour real time) in my sandbox. I had the zombie spawn number set on low but there were still hundreds of them. I managed to get a car started and drove around town running over the walking dead for a while in a bid to clear some kind of path but, as my fuel ran low, I started looking for a place to hole up for the night. That's when it all went wrong. I got my car stuck on a fire hydrant and tried to drive off it. All that did was attract a horde of zombies. Then, I hit the wrong key and ended up getting out of the car, only to be consumed (screaming) by the horde.

Entertaining game but I really must try and master the controls...

Yet another Project Zomboid post (yes I'm becoming obsessed with this game). This video shows the things possible with a bit of modding. It's pretty funny as the players role play fire fighters on the first day of the outbreak. This is so good it could have been an opening episode for something like The Walking Dead. Of course, what you need to understand about Project Zomboid is that everybody dies...eventually...

I'm glad I bought this game and even if I never get to grips with the controls, the videos are well worth a watch:)

My latest demise in Project Zomboid

Fancying a break from The Last of Us, I started up The Walking Dead, a game about a tough killer who rediscovers his humanity by escorting a young girl across post-apocalyptic America, slaying many zombies along the way. It's one of those Telltale games, where your main input is in choosing how to interact with the other characters. This is much more suspenseful than it sounds, as most of the people you talk to are violent and desperate.

Your character, Lee (I always think of him as LEEEEEE! as that's how the girl he's protecting screams his name when zombies show up) is going to prison for killing his wife when the apocalypse begins (you can play him as guilty or innocent, as seems fit). He's also black and an intellectual, which might not be helpful when surrounded by armed, terrified rednecks. This is an old game and the stylised graphics are a bit dated, but it remains good, and the last few years have given it a new edge.
OMG I Love the TellTale Walking dead series. Lee is such a likable character and his impact on Clementines life and her journey through the other games brings out all the happy and sads.

I'm still addicted to Project Zomboid. I'm getting a bit better at the controls and managing to survive a little longer. In my latest outing, I got my supplies together, found the keys to a car in the glovebox and drove across town looking to improve my lot. Unfortunately I drove too fast into a tree, hurt myself and ruined my transport. Fighting off a few zombies attracted by the sounds, I made it to a motel where I holed up for a while, ripped up some sheets and treated my wounds (luckily no bites). I couldn't sleep because of the pain and couldn't find painkillers in any of the rooms so had to head out again even though my health was poor. I tried about a dozen cars before I got one with both gas and keys. Had to kill a few zombies along the way. Finally, I made it to a house that didn't have any painkillers but it did have sleeping pills. I washed my wounds, applied fresh bandages (made from ripping up a pair of socks), closed all the curtains, locked the front door, popped a few pills and prayed that I wouldn't wake up being eaten by the walking dead.

Next morning, opened my eyes. Pain was gone, health much restored. I had breakfast and was ready to go again. I quit to desktop at that point because my nerves were shot. It's permadeath in this game so I don't want to get too reckless and I needed a break.

But I'll be back....after all, as Scarlett O'Hara said: tomorrow is another day:)

I can't bring myself to be interested enough to play RDR2.

After playing HZD, i'm going to give Mass Effect another go.

Having a lazy Skyrim playthrough until the next updates (one free, one covered by a season pass) for Stellaris come out. Looking forward to the orbital rings and other new bits and pieces.

I love the sheer beauty of Skyrim. Still not getting into Stellaris unfortunately. Recently bought Interstellar: Genesis but not really rubbing my rhubarb either.

On a brighter note, I managed to get Championship Manager (season 03/04) running on my Windows 11 machine. Managing Albion Rovers who are currently sitting third in the Scottish Third Division under my guidance. Promotion the obvious target for the season.

Giving Project Zomboid a little rest before it becomes an obsession.

My physical copy of Metroid Prime Remastered arrived on Friday, so I've returned to Tallon IV over the past couple of evenings. I can already say that it's the best re-release of a game that I've played to date. Having played it when it first came out on the Game Cube back in 2002, I can't actually believe that I'm playing it on a handheld now, or that it looks and sounds as good as any recent game, and plays like a dream. A testament to the original, I guess. The new control options are literally a game changer, though. It's a masterpiece and I'm in love with it all over again

I'm trying out two Star Wars games. Star Wars: Fallen Order is a side scroller with some force combat elements. So far it is dreadfully dull. If it doesn't pick up soon I'll delete it.

Star Wars Squadrons. Meh. No Star Wars flight sim has ever come close to X-Wing vs. Tie Fighter for me. Deleted.

I loved Jedi: Fallen Order and can't wait for the sequel Jedi: Survivor. I hope you stick with it and enjoy it, Vince.

I have Squadrons and i think it's a good looking game and i hope that it continues with new ships and time periods within the differing Star Wars eras. I'm just not good at these sorts of games, though and never got very far.

I saw a zombie game called Dead Age on GOG.com. It was on sale at £1.09 so I decided to buy it and give it a whirl thinking it might be good to compare it to Project Zomboid.

Well, after spending an hour on this, I think I know why it was so cheap. Whereas Project Zomboid is funny, sometimes scary and highly addictive, Dead Age is simplistic, utterly repetitive and mind numbingly boring. The only mystery that remains unsolved is why the makers even bothered to come up with Dead Age 2.

Avoid like the zombie apocalypse.

I reloaded an old Star Wars game called Jedi Academy (2003). Once you get around the fact that the graphics look dated, it's actually pretty good. The missions are fun and you can choose the order that you do them in. There's a lot of character customisation. Oddly, I find that the later levels are weaker, because you end up fighting a lot of long lightsaber fights, which to me involved flailing around a lot. There isn't too much jumping about, which was always a problem with older games with first-person shooter elements.

I loved Jedi Outcast/Academy and hope that Disney chooses to revisit Kyle Katarn.

I prefer Academy, partly because of the choosing of levels, and partly because it doesn't have that "jumping onto platforms" thing that older FPS games seem to have. IIRC, the first Half-Life game had the same problem. I ought to have another look at Outcast, but again, the swordfighting let it down a bit for me.
