Picky, picky, picky...

My 2 cents are that without such a huge Wall, you would never get the same effect from Tyrion's first encounter with it in AGOT where reading it, I was in real awe by the imagined size. Also, you would not get that feeling that this is the end of the civilized world and anything beyond it is myterious and dangerous.
