I was surprised when Eddard....(MAJOR SPOILERS!!)

Thoros and Melisandre also have this ability, but they don't have a POV, and, also, they are second rate characters. (I do hope I will see Melisandre dead in one of the next books, preferably ADWD.)

Melissandre will be getting her own POV in ADWD (as confirmed by GRRM) and I would hardly call her a second-rate character. You may not like her but she a big role to play yet.

Seems like there will be none near Stannis for a while. Darn!

Anyway, I still call her a second-rate. Her actions make no sense. Maester Aemon said that the sword was wrong. And how can you use the shadows when you serve the light?

The only characters with the ability to become "legendary" are Danny, Jon, Bran and Arya.

Rickon is to small and doesn't have a POV. Also we do not know if he has developed any warging abilities.

Sansa has lost her direwolf. "Lady is dead dear, so no warging for you! That should teach you a lesson. Why didn't you remmembered your fathers words when you went to Cersei? <When 'The Winds of Winter' blows, the lone wolf dies, but the pack survives.>" (This is something I expect to be happening.)

I think before all is said and done Tyrion will play a big role in the story. Bigger than he already has. I also wouldn't discount Sansa, who is learning political manipulaqtion from the best of them

Imp, I wasn't only talking about their role in the story, but about their magic abilities as well.

It is true that Tyrion, Sansa, Jaime and others will play a major part in the story, but they do not have any magical abilities.

Well Lann the Clever didn't have any magical abilities, but that didn't stop him from becoming a legend. I could definitely see Sansa as the Queen of the North and the Vale.

Delran-

Mel's actions are odd, but I suspect that they'll make more sense when we get inside her head in ADwD. She may well be playing for The Other side but I wouldn't be at all surprised to see her actions to have major repercussions in the next book (a book I don't think she's going to survive).

I do think that Eddard's pack mantra is going going to be important going forward, it's hard to the imagine the remaining Starks won't regroup before the end of the story. What does it mean that Sansa's lost her wolf? Probably not good things... But she's also the only Stark who's got even the makings of a power base for themselves at the moment... What should we trust more, situational analysis or foreshadowing analysis?

I think both of them, Illifer. Also here is one foreshadowing "A Winter of Wolves". Sounds to me like GRRM has something big stored for the Starks in his last book. Also Eddards speaks about "The Winds of Winter".

And Sansa's power base is based on Littlefinger and his desire to marry her with Robert's heir. GRRM said something about Sansa when he was asked about her future like this "Consider the fact that she has lost her wolf." Someone from here said this but I do not remember the thread.

Illifer, good to see you in here. It's been almost a week since you started this thread and I wondered if you felt I had fed you to the lions.

I agree that Mel is not long for this world, err, I mean ASOIAF... you know what I mean. Her plotting sets up a path that cannot survive three books. I think her death will throw a wrench in Stannis' and Jon's plans. Their scramble to recover should provide a substantial plot for the last two books.

"The Winds of Winter" is the title for the 6th book after ADWD. It was originally to be called "A Time for Wolves".

"A Dream of Spring" is the title for the 7th and final book.

Of course they are TK.... wait a minute "A Winter of Wolves" was originaly the title for the last book "A Dream of Spring",.....or so I thought. I wrote it on purpose.

Cersei and Taena - I didn't see that one coming.

I was surprised when Eddard was killed, I thought he might have lasted long enough to explain to Jon about his parentage at least.

I am also surprised that as yet nothing has happened to young Robert Arryn, though if he continues with his sweet milk addiction he may not last too much longer yet.

I also though Rob would have got his missus up the duff before he managed to get himself killed, throwing another spanner in the works.
