Things you've learned from books ..........

I learned a lot of history that should have been taught in school by reading Robert Heinlein. The one that stands out most in my mind is the fact that the American government outlawed the possession of gold in the first half of last century. Why would they not have mentioned that in school, hmm?

I also learned a great deal about fly fishing from A River Runs Through It.

And I remember turning in a paper that was far and away more information than the teacher was looking for, on the question of what one would take on a covered wagon move across the country. I got the information from Louis L'Amour. :)
