Considering that some guys have found productive inspiration in their dreams, I thought we should have a thread for one. For those willing to share. Sorry if there already is an exisiting one. I'll start with my two latest ones.

Last night: some trouble maker punk, he was being a big nuisance, got his face ripped/sawn, on the front and sides, with some bizzarre weapon, like some barbed wire or a chain saw ...

Three nights before: A young lady, a bit problematic/dysfunctional, maybe a single mother, rich spoilt-brat bf, good-guy old flame turned up again, old flame's got a current beau at uni/college ...

The advantage for you: If you post your dream here now, then you can always come back here to check it out again, when you've forgotten it.

Over to you guys ...

Dreamhunter, unfortunately I've just finished looking over an essay on existentialism and therapy, and I think you need help... actually, the fact that you're posting on then chrons proves it! (That, and Frank Lampard...)

But, here's a recurrent dream with only small variations, and it happened night before last: I'm standing on a rolling green hill, fabulous scenery ahead of me, take a step forward and fly away, arms outstretched. I'm aware that this type of dream represents the wish to be free of earthly shackles, but it's sooo blissful... then as I skimmed the forests and hills I saw a younger male figure, and swooped down and was trying to show him how to do it, telling him he just had to trust and let go. But he couldn't, so I flew on. This is the first time in my flying dreams I've been trying to show another person how to do it.

ps: have you ever tried to influence your dreams? Try going to sleep thinking of whatever it is you'd like to dream of, over and over until you fall asleep, instruct your unconscious and occasionally it actually works. Of course, you only get the situation, you can't control the dream... Michelle Pfeiffer turns me down every time - ooh, ooh, Just remembered, I watched Ladyhawke last night - Michelle and flying all in one situation - so how come the dream was the night before that?

I dreamed that I was a woodchuck, and I had the shotgun from Halo, and I was hunting poptarts that infested my village. The mayor of the village did not want to pay me the bounty on the poptarts I killed. Then I woke up.

I have issues.

Now it's clear, isn't it? You need help even more than I do. I mean, Michelle was Ladyhawke like twenty years ago, and you're still dreaming of flying with her? I wonder what she'd think of you.

Anyway, Michelle is too soft for me. I'd rather be dreaming of ... someone more athletic ... like ... Tonya Knight ... or Monica Brant perhaps. But Kristanna Lokken or Natasha Henstridge would do in the meantime though. Cindy Crawford would be nice.

Crikey! Major error! I thought the term beau could be used to mean both a woman or a man. It seems it's mostly used to mean a man. Darn it.

Right, change beau in that sentence to squeeze now. Well, anything, as long as it means a female.

I dreamed that my family herded llamas, and that somehow, both of my sisters were llamas. I wanted to sell them but the most I could get was some guy wanting to trade me a box of crayons missing the color red.

Wow, lucky for you Freudian interpretation has fallen out of favour.

I had this dream where I was alone on a barren planet, but on that planet, my will was manifest. So I played God, created man in my own image and then rose cities from stone with my mind.

And then I woke up just as the dream lady I had in my mind kiss me.

Last night I had a dream about There's Something About Mary. And I haven't seen that film for ages. It was Lee Evans (Tucker) trying to get Mary, and not the Ted guy but the other guy (if you've not seen it, I'm making no sense!) was there and he was trying to trip Tucker up all the time on his crutches and whatnot. I was there as well trying to help Tucker - who I knew was Lee Evans. I can't explain it, but it was all very weird.

Did Freud ever analyse himself? Somehow I don't remember he did.

About your llama dream, I wouldn't tell your sisters about the crayon thing if I were you. Don't think they'd be too glad to hear of their worth.:D

Only very roughly until I know you a bit better. Interpretation isn't just symbolism and archetype, it's about people, too. I read that somewhere :D

Does anyone else remember dreams they had from years ago? I can remember dreams I had before I was 10 - many, many years ago now! Different things spark the memories but I can remember details very clearly, conversations, faces etc. The dreams haven't necessarily been recurring, but they are very clear.

And there is often a theme of shopping and travel.

As to an answer to this thread; had a very disturbing dream the other night. My family, including young children, were sat down at a dimly lit dining table, each at a corner. We each had a sharp knife and fork and were about to start carving into the outer extremities of a body, entombed in ice. We all seemed quite cheerful.

My daughter then woke up so I have no idea where that dream was going - but it wasn't nice to remember:eek:

I've tried writing things based on dreams, but that never worked out well.

Last week I dreamt I was a servant to a teenage, bossy girl. I never saw her in the dream, but she was a farao for sure. We were in a room made of blocks that pyramids are made of, with torches on the wall. The farao was already falling asleep in a bed in a wall, and I was kneeling beside it, facing a reeaallyyy hot guard (for those who know: it was Carl from Love Actually ). We were in love but couldn't kiss in front of the farao because she would kill us or something if she found out.

I did kiss Carl though. MY god. Beast dream evvvaarrr. :D

Yes, I can remember a few dreams vividly from when I was younger, but not younger than 10. That's pretty impressive! Wait, I do actually, it had Mighty Mouse in it :D

I can remember one from when I was somewhere between 5 to 7. I dreamt I lived in a house where you could control everything though buttons on the walls. You could make the lights get brighter or darker, you could make your toys move and talk to you if you wished, and everything was easy, but really weird. This would have been *coughs as I know this reveals age:eek:* late 70's, early 80's. I can still picture the bedroom I walked into, with Barbie dolls that walked up to me and greeted me. At the time I felt it was horrible, and actually felt quite scared.

Am I really weird???? Or just normal for a Chron?:p

I've just posted a piece in the main 'Critiques' section which is the best I can remember of a recent dream. It was one of those where somethings seem over-familiar, like you're aware of having dreamed this before, sometime previously - but you're always playing catchup rather than being able to 'get ahead of the plot' as it were.

I found it unsettling because of a comment a friend made about the mentally ill rejecting reality wholesale because some aspect of it appears unbelievable, so I found myself (in the dream) trying to make sense of my surroundings in case this was happening to me.

Past dreams always fade for me, although I can remember small snippets from when I was 10-ish.

My mother and I are at the fairground (I can estimate my age from how old she looks), and I'm watching her on one of the rides. This is like a sofa you stand on and insert a coin, and all it does is rotate up and back, once, while you hold on to the back. She keeps feeding coins in and it keeps swinging up further and further, until it rotates completely on its axis, 'swallowing' her whole. However, she's able to stick her head out through the 'bottom' of the sofa and look about, bemused.

Beats me!
