MythosCon

Jason Eckhardt, who has illustrated for Chaosium and Necronomicon Press among others, will be there too.

I completely forgot about Jason! I've been wanting to meet him forever. Excellent. Dan Clore will be there, and there are others who definitely plan on attending but have yet to register. I've just read in another forum that ye hotel is almost sold out/booked for that week-end. Cons are so much more enjoyable when one has a room in the hotel wherein they are being held.

Amen! I went to Eastercon in 2008 and 2010, and it was so much better this time when I didn't have to lug my purchases around with me everywhere, and didn't have to hop on the bus back to my B&B every night.

And now MythosCon is over.

Did it meet my expectations? Yes.

Did it exceed my expectations? Oh yes!

Was it worth the cost in money and physical exhaustion (i.e., jetlag) to go there? Oh YES! I have already paid the membership for next time.

Don't expect a coherent con report from me -- I've been awake for 26 hours by now. But it was fabulous.

Yes, it was simply amazing. Coming home I've gotten very ill -- maybe I caught S. T.'s cold. This will be my last con for a while as they tend to exhaust me, wonderful as they are. Perhaps the intense excitement of it all plays a part in wearing me down. It was exceptional, especially all of the scholars who have done decades of work on Lovecraft's life and texts. S. T. was in charge of programming and there wasn't one bad or boring panel. The readings were especially good, most amazing of which was Michael Cisco, who not only read but vocally performed his story from Black Wings -- one of the most chilling experiences of my life. I met people with whom I've been corresponding for 30 or 40 decades, and new friends such as Martin. I read from my newest book, Some Unknown Gulf of Night, and I also met with Matthew Jaffe, who will be illustrated that book. It was, despite being small, one of the most amazing Lovecraftian gatherings of all time. I am still reeling with the wonder of it. And although I've come home plagued with illness and exhaustion, I overflow with the potential energy required to begin writing the three books I hope to complete this year. Many thanks to everyone who was involved and participated!
