I think they are, or about to be. My book and Peter's are "March" books, but I think they are at least at the printers and probably already printed and ready for shipping. Because they are all print-on-demand, Derrick can do a slew of titles at once, I guess. He is also offering a hardcover concordance to ye poetry of Donald Wandrei! And soon there will be new collections from Joe Pulver, John Langan and Richard Gavin!! Wheeeee!

I'm not so sure -- because if they are, why haven't the finished covers been posted yet? I'm guessing they're still a couple of weeks away. But the new SHiL and LL just became available at the Hipcamp. :)
 
My tale of Nyarlathotep, "The Hands that Reek and Smoke," will be reprinted in The Book of Cthulhu II at ye end of this year, edited by Ross Lockhart as a Night Shade Press trade pb. It will be another huge reprint anthology, and the first book had some new original tales so maybe this second volume will as well. I hope this trend of Mythos reprint anthologies continues, it's a great way to remain in print while remaining a lazy sod who writes no new fiction............................;)

Aside from that, since the stories they picked for the first were of rather higher quality than some of those picked by Derleth (for instance) for Tales of the Cthulhu Mythos, such things are a very good way for newcomers to this subgenre to build a respectable Mythos library....
 
Just got ye hardcover edition of Eldritch Tales, edited by Stephen ones for Gollancz. The book is dedicated to S. T. Joshi and Bob Price, but S. T. isn't named in the Acknowledgments, even though it looks as if his Corrected Texts were used. He just inform'd me via email that he had no idea this book existed. I am absolutely in love with this edition and will be shewing it on YouTube later to-night. It is an excellent edition of HPL's minor works, his poetry (the entire Fungi from Yuggoth in included) and ends with ye editor's essay on Lovecraft's publication history in Great Britain. Superb.

The corrected texts certainly weren't used for the first book Necronomicon: The Best Weird Tales of H. P. Lovecraft. I e-mailed Jones about it and he seemed a bit annoyed by my question, saying that Derleth was an excellent editor. Maybe so, but certainly not from the viewpoint of textual quality.

He just inform'd me via email that he had no idea this book existed. I am absolutely in love with this edition and will be shewing it on YouTube later to-night. There is some weird stuff in it. For example, it is never mentioned anywhere -- not even on the copyright page -- that the text for "Challenge from Beyond" is only HPL's segment of the story. It isn't even mentioned anywhere that "The Challenge from Beyond" is actually a round-robin story. And why has Richard Searight's epigram from "The Sealed Casket" been added? The text has NEVER been published like that before. Jones has simply made up a new HPL text the way J. Chapman Miske made up "The Thing in the Moonlight".
 
One of my YouTube viewers pointed out the misprint of "intruding" where it should be "obtruding" in the opening sentence of "The Beast in the Cave." Now, where did this use of "intruding" come from? "Obtruding" is used in Beyond the Wall of Sleep and the first edition of Dagon and Other Macabre Tales. Is this a new error introduced only in Eldritch Tales? Did the copy editor not like "obtruding" and thus replaced it with a word more to his liking??? Jones is correct in that Augie edited some wonderful books, but his editing of Lovecraft was appalling, as anyone with half a brain will now realise.

Still, I love this edition for bringing so many poems and less-known pieces together in one volume; and this edition will now keep Fungi from Yuggoth in print, which is fabulous.

It's certainly a beautiful artifact, just like Necronomicon. I keep the set for that reason, not for reading it.
 
Any word out there that a companion volume to the B&N Complete Fiction of the rumored complete revisions and things is upcoming?

There are no immediate plans, although it is not out of the question.
 
The Lovecraft E-zine is, of course, a regular occurrence, but I thought this one deserved a special mention because of its theme:

Despite the frequent comments such as Mike mentions here, we have had a growing number of female Lovecraftians over the past 2-3 decades, several of whom are fine talents in their own right; and I, for one, am damned glad of the trend....

(Not that the male writers are slouches themselves; we also have a number of very finely talented Lovecraftian writers of that persuasion as well; but an influx of women writers also helps to seriously question the idea that Lovecraft is a strictly male-oriented writer....)
 
Sean Branney has just announced, on ye Facebook page for The H. P. Lovecraft Historical Society, that ye next Dark Adventure Radio Theatre will be an adaptation of The Case of Charles Dexter Ward!!!!!! This is my favourite Work by H. P. Lovecraft and thus I am mass excited. Because of ye novel's length, this will most likely be a two cd-disc set!!!! You may view trailers for other episodes of Dark Adventure Radio Theatre on YouTube, and purchase the first four episodes at the HPLHS site.:D:cool:

I had missed the publication of that one, and hadn't been able to find it on the B&N website, as I was looking using the full title (which, for some reason, does not show up when I do a search).

Anyhoo, glad to have the link; have now ordered.

And... the new issue of the Lovecraft Annual is out, with an enormous amount of fascinating material. (I haven't yet had a chance to read the article, but have glanced over your piece on the Regnum Congo... it looks quite good, Martin!)
